What kind of help are you looking for? And as for the wakeboarders being able to hear you, I've found unfortunately that even if you have the stereo so loud that it's bothering the people in the boat, those behind can't really hear it... need to have tower speakers for that.

The Alpine SPS's I listed are tower speakers.

I'm trying to figure out if I've been guided towards products that are too low-end for quality & durability.

my bad... i personally don't have enough product specific experience, but i'm sure plenty of others here do... really comes down to your budget more than anything.

tuned properly , you rider should be able to hear those speakers fine . I custom built our tower enclosures and used jensen 6 1/2" due to the way they sounded they worked out great . Just make sure they are crossed over for High Pass , filter set about 150hz .

Why do you want to cross over the tower speakers at 150Hz? just curious.

Because you can't hear the bass from tower speakers while you're riding anyway. Bass frequencies make the speaker move the most, and also cause distortion first. If you crossover the frequency @ 150-200hz, you really don't lose any sound for the rider, and you can generally turn up the volume a little extra before they start to distort. Distortion is what usually kills speakers.
