I can see why J-Ro let me borrom Raymans Ravid Rabbits.
How much Sapporo did these guys drink before they programmed it?
Seriously? I don't think shroom trippin deadheads could come up with such weird ass sh*t.
Anyhow, JD00, PM Sent. _________________

Still haven't set up the system, but the games I have are:
Madden 07
Mamma Cook off
Trauma Center
I guess I need to get ahold of my friend at Sony to get the latest games for PS2 too. _________________
8824, dude - I suck. You were right.
. |

chavez, we were guessing acid, and lots of it. My personal favorite is when you have to keep the stall doors shut on the outhouses while the rabbits are dong their business. Madden 07 is a good game, works well with the controllers. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

chavez, is that what it is? I always wondered.
The blue light is cool. I'd like it if it was always flashing like that. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

It usually means you are getting an update to WiiConnect 24 or something else in your system. |

Any good mutliplayer shooters and sports games? Reviews on other games?

Currently have:

Wii Sports (All about boxing)

Super Mario Strikers charged is fun and tough if you like Soccer.
I also have Guitar Hero and soon will be adding Wii Fit to my games list. _________________ If you do not like your job, you don't strike....You just go in there everyday and do it really half a$$ed.....Now that's the American way - Homer Simpson. |

I was looking the the Fit awhile back. Interesting concept. Just a few concerns with the board longevity and the cost.
Also won't be out until early next year.
There's a new game called Winter Sports that was just released this past week. I has Curling. _________________
8824, dude - I suck. You were right.
. |

Okay, picked up the Wii yesterday.....going out today to get myself TW PGA and let the Little Man pick out a game.
Tell me what else I "have" to get.....assuming another controller, nunchuk(will buy Wii Play if I can find it).....what about memory cards....?
Nintendo struck gold with this Wii..... Going around stores in search of a Wii and accessories yesterday, Sony and Microsoft areas were stocked like mid Summer and the Nintendo Wii area looked like a trailer park after a tornado....... |

EJ - Super Mario Galaxy.
You should put a 128mb or 512mb SD card in your shopping basket too. While you don't "need" one since the Wii has a small amount of memory, it is a good idea to have for saving GameCube games, downloads from the different Wii channels and upcoming/unannounced plans for the console. |

E.J., I have about 9 games. Some must haves are for you, TW 2008 and Mario Galaxy. For the family, Raymans Raving Rabbids 2, Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, Thrillville, and Super Mario Charged.
I wouldn't get Wii Play. I have it and the games are pretty boring. I also wouldn't get a card. There is a lot of memory internally. With the discs I have, 4 downloaded games, and all the available channels, I have used 10% of the internal memory. You can always pick one up later.
If you want to listen to mp3s on it you may want a card but you may need to downgrade your photo channel to version 1.1 as the latest version doesn't support mp3s. All you have to do to downgrade is delete the channel and go to the Wii Shop channel and download the older version thats available.
Other accessories you should get are 4 total wiimotes, at least 2 nunchucks (4 for some newer games), component cables (If you run the stock cables through a receiver that upconverts to component you may not be able to see the games downloaded from the Wii shop channel), and a wireless sensor bar depending on your tv setup (If its mounted and you don't want to run a cable to it), and the controller for the old downloadable games.
For us, everyone asks us to bring our Wii when we come over so I got the component cables and wireless sensor bar so that all I have to do is unplug the wii, grab the power cord and wireless bar and go with the stock AV cables. That way you don't have to unhook the whole setup. Just unplug 2 wires and grab the remotes.
Hope that helps.
PS-
If you want the original Raving Rabbids, I'll send it to you, as we have beat it and am on to the next. The game is awesome for kids and their short attention span. _________________ Steal My Book

Good call on the cables. Yes. Must have. There is a noticeable difference at 480p and widescreen. I travel with the Wii a lot too but haven't yet obtained a 2nd set of cables. Good suggestion.
As for the card - definitely a judgement call but to me it future-proofs your experience. I have downloaded a lot of games and every channel that becomes available, have songs loaded onto the card and I have a lot of GameCube games that occupy space too. The Wii has 512mb of internal memory - that by no means is unlimited. |

Thanks for the info Rhawn, Erik and J-Ro...!!!!!
Wow...what a nightmare out there..... Obviously, everyone that did get a Wii are now out getting whatever they need. It was easier to get a Wii the day after Christmas than it is to find extra controllers and games. 9 stores and was able to pick up TW '08 and Mario Galaxy....
J-Ro....the reason for Wii Play was some guy at a Game Stop said that it comes with a controller, so for $10 more than you pay for a controller anyway, you get the games.... If the games are not worth $10....I will just get the controller.... Then again, at this point.....whatever I find first I will buy.....
Nobody has extra controllers. Guess it is one player at a time for the next bit. |

E.J., That's crazy. When we got ours last Feb. controllers were nowhere to be found. So we bought Wii Play when it came out. It is fun but gets old quick. Worth it for the controller then and now I guess. A month later we were in Toys R us at Times Square and they had hundreds of controllers in huge bins. Supply and Demand I suppose.
I was going to get Mario Galaxy today but maybe not. _________________ Steal My Book

Just back.......AGAIN.....
Called around and found a controller! Well, had the Little Man calling around. I was half way there and was wondering to myself if he didn't explain himself well and I was going to get into the store and they were going to say "Controllers, we haven't had any of those for weeks."
But....walked in and could see the last one on the wall in back of the register.... I was the third person in line........
First 2 customers were after something else.... So I have a second controller & nunchuk. My God this has been a lot of running around.
I am done.....what we have is what we have for the next bit...... Burned through a 1/4 tank of diesel in the past day jumping around......
J-Ro.....I cannot believe these have been out so long with me clueless to them. I really thought they were "for the kids." Really, if not for my nephews pestering me into going downstairs and playing golf with them.......well.....I would have saved myself a bit of money..... |

E.J., Don't play TW 2008! You will never turn it off and your real golf game will turn to sH%t.
If you like old nostalgiac games...NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, Neo Geo, etc, don't check out the shop channel. You'll spend a fortune. They even have the Japan only Super Mario Bros...... _________________ Steal My Book

Okay, my brother got a Wii for Christmas and I am officially addicted to it. I can actually break a sweat playing video games and I'm not a fat kid either!
So I wanted to get Tiger Woods, is it good? Right now we have the sports pack... I love the boxing. Other than that he picked up Zelda and Mario Galaxy but I haven't played those yet.. usually i'm more into sports games. So what should I buy? |

Dragonlady8, I'm also interested in the Wii Fit. It reminds me of the old running pad from the NES. Excited if they could make a snowboard game out of it too
Article if anyone wants to find out about it: http://wii.ign.com/articles/803/803365p1.html
And notable games to think about renting/buying:
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves (a TON of fun; good for kids)
Resident Evil 4 (depending on what kind of games you like)
Metroid Prime 3 (uses the Wiimote functions and a lot of fun for a FPS/Adventure)
Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (great use of the Wiimote again; puzzle/adventure game for kids)
Guitar Hero III (self-explanatory)
Super Mario Galaxy (really fun game, cool concept)
Mario Strikers Charged (I was addicted to this game for awhile, has online play)
Mario & Sonic Olympics (another Wii Sports type game)
Zelda Twilight Princess (good story)
Then in February Super Smash Brothers Brawl is coming out (save your Gamecube controllers for this game if you still have them, they're compatible). |

My setup is as follows.
Hardware:
- Wii
- Wii HD/ED/408p component cables
- 2nd Wii controller by way of the Wii Play pack-in.
- "Classic" Controller for playing games off Virtual Console
- 128mb SD card
Software:
- Wii Sports
- Wii Play
- Wario Ware Smooth Moves
- Metroid Prime 3
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Virtual Console - NES Kid Icarus
- Virtual Console - NES Baseball
- Virtual Console - N64 Wave Race
- Virtual Console - N64 Mario Kart
(leaving this out but worth a mention - 2 GameCube save cards and a back-catalog of 8 GameCube games, 2 wired controllers and 1 Wavebird - all compatible with the Wii.)
...and with one exception over the Holiday, nothing has been in my Wii since Galaxy came out. I pulled a few all-nighters with my little baby daughter sleeping on my chest playing that game. Completely blissful. I am up to 64 stars, and will go on record as saying that Galaxy is the best game Nintendo has produced in about 10 years and it is my 2nd favorite game of all time***. It is easy if you want it to be easy, and hard if you like a challenging platformer. Can't say enough good things about that game. Super Mario Galaxy has been clinically proven to make your life better.
TRUTH.
*** My #1 favorite game is Half Life 2 which I first played through on PC but is now available on Xbox 360's Orange Box - which is actually a better system in many ways with a ****-ton of games and the console I recommend to people if they are only going to own one console. |

So I went to Best Buy yesterday to return 2 Simpsons videos and buy SuperBad. I also had to go to Sears to return a drill. So I decide I will get SuperBad at Best Buy and Mario Galaxy at Sears. Best Buy had hundreds of Mario Galaxy games so I went to Sears and they had 0. I was pissed!
Since we are listing Wii setups....
Hardware
Wii
4 Wiimotes
2 nunchucks
1 Classic Controller
Wireless Sensor Bar
Component cables
S-Video Cables
Software-
Wii Sports
Raymans Raving Rabbids
Raymans Raving Rabbids 2
Madden 2007
Tiger Woods 2007
TMNT
Mario Party 8
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics
Wii Play
VC - Super MArio Bros
VC - Punch Out
VC - Galaga
VC - Castlevania
All the other Channels. I think it's lame that they charge for the Internet Browser now. _________________ Steal My Book
