Can you do it on a skateboard? Id suggest practicing as much as you can on land, then try it on water. _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

| I'm no good at wakeskating so take this advice with a grain of salt, but I've been watching a lotta wakeskating on Fuel lately and it looks like the guys stomp the nose a little first before they pop the tail. |

w2w motive, its similar to the concept on a wakeboard. You have to launch off your tail and get your front foot in the air.
Basically rock onto your back foot, lift your front foot, jump off your back foot and then level it out. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

I'm finding in/out ollies to be much easier then ones out in the flats. Today we had an awesome day on the lake and I was popping those higher then I ever had before. Also did some one wake jumps but those were much less consistant for me. _________________

okAy stop stop stop.. i know i havent been on this site in a while, mainly because i go on ws.com now but.... i really have to correct this advice
you cant ollie (at least properly) by pumping the nose first like you would a wakeboard. it is a completetly different motion. Its all in your back foot. you absorb your front foot after using your back foot to pop it. at first i was stomping my back foot first but i found that the ollies came smoother and higher if you use a kind of sliding motion with it instead, but still popping the tail with a forceful foot. your front foot does nothing but absorb, it does not have to "pump"... thats for wakeboarders.
also, make sure your elbow is in and your over the board and not on an edge. when you pop with your back foot, absorb your front foot, then kinda absorb your back foot... you should feel it come with the pop.
i just realized, wakebrad gave perfect advice |

This is actually a very effective way to get a higher ollie. If you watch Snap you will notice this is how the pros get big ollies. Also the placement of your front foot has a lot to do with big ollies as well because it provides the leverage point for your skate on the water. The Book DVD has a really in depth section on this. |

on a wakeskate? well, im not saying it isnt possible, because a friend of mine said he does that, but every other wakeskater ive rode with will tell you thats not the proper way to learn to ollie (including him). the biggest ollies i have ever seen were the ones that popped from the tail. the only time ive seen some one pump is wakeskaters that were previously wakeboarders and their tail didnt even come off the water.
plain and simple, its not the proper way to ollie and for those who do do it and get a good ollie, they know exactly what to do with there feet. but its not something beginners should try. |

Its odd... I can ollie on a skateboard fine but on the wakeskate its a bit different.
I think I just need to play around with it more. _________________ Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn. |
