Monster Tower Question?

Hey guys i just got my monster mounted on my maxum a couple days ago and we went riding on it yesterday. about 2hrs into it i noticed it had a little play side to side in it. i retightened all the bolts and rode the rest of the day without problems. does anyone with a monster have to retighten very often or is this just a breakin thing. the tower looks great and the install was really smooth, other than the fiberglassing upsidedown part, lol. thanks for the info and help on things.

put some lock-tite on the bolts, never again will they loosen

so what happens if i put on loctite and i already have never seize on them? gotta have it on there or you will never get them off. thanks

Put loctite on the set screws and that should solve your problem. Mine loosened up on me the first time too, after re-tightening once I haven't had any probs.

We've had the same happen to ours. We fold it down to put it in the garage after every ride. We've started tightning it up after we get it on the water so the drive over to the lake does not loosen any thing up. Since we started that method we havnt had any problems. Except for the time I pulled outta a fall. It was one of those where your back is on the water but you just dig the heel side edge in and pull it out. The tower moved about 4 inches to the left and stayed till we readjusted it. (read shoved back and retightned).

We also had to get new set screws. The original ones had shallow holes and stripped easy. It wasnt as tight as it should have been in the almost fall above. Bill at monster tower hooked us up with some new ones to replace them. These had deeper holes and work so so so much better.

We are also considering a more permanent fix to not allow the rear legs to flex again (either a weld or additional bolts) To make it unable to flex left to right even if the bolts are a lil loose but still able to break down.

the prob was not in the setscrews but on the bolts that connect the legs to the top. i think it may b a breakin thing but thanks for the info!

Our initial problem was loose bolts. Same as yours
Later we had a stripped set screw so we could not tighten it as much as we would have liked. Which lead to it not being as stable as it could have been. But its all fixed now.

We just tighten every time we put it back in the water after folding down.
And we keep the required tools in the boat for that purpose.
No more problems.
