I'd have to say a little of both. I think they can look real good on some people, but they do smell. I know I wouldn't want them though. |

ok, so it's true that most people get them from not washing their hair.. which smells, i know.. but there's a way to make them and wash your hair like a normal person. haha i wouldn't get them either if i knew they would reek |

Yeah and plus you get lint and random stuff stuck in your hair, and it would get worse and worse over time. I say keep it in check, you can do lots of cool stuff to your hair besides destroying it. |

Yea, I think they look good on some people. I was considering getting them last year, but I would have had to shave my head for school so I didn't bother. It annoys me when people automatically equate dreads with dirty. There are a lot of products out there that allow you to wash your dreads and keep your scalp perfectly clean without having a negative effect on the dreads. |

Dreds suck. They cause you not to wash your hair. |

Does no one read previous posts? There ARE products that allow you to wash your hair while keeping dreadlocks. Dreadlocks are no longer always DIRTY, unless the person who has them is DIRTY... |

it all depends on the person & their personality...
ask some of your closest friends because they know your personality best and they are prolly the best judges on what you'd look like with them. go off of that... |

Don't you have to not wash them in like the first month or so that you have them so that they will stay? |

OMG... it has been stated like 5 times already... YOU CAN WASH YOUR HAIR EVEN WITH DREADS!!!! The reason people think you can't is that most shampoo has an ingredient that unknots hair. The special shampoos don't have this ingredient in them, yet they still have the cleansing agents. |

No, I was asking whether you had to keep them dry for a period of time right after you got them done, not whether you could clean them, since I KNOW that you can clean them.
I really didn't word it very well though. |

Ok Heliboy, but that's those peoples' personal choices... don't make general assumptions based on the limited people that you meet. |
