has anyone put their racks on the crossbraces on top of the tower instead of the sides?? i no it would be harder to reach them but our slip has pilings and they would get in the way if they were on the sides

I have a Phat Tower and it has built in board racks on the top side of the tower. I only put small boards up there and place them as far forward as I can.

I just don't want to get the rope caught on a board or anything else for that matter.

I think the water dripping would get annoying. Plus, there's the access issue you mentioned. I'd say to just get detatchable racks or if you don't already have a tower, try to find one that is narrow enough at the top so that racks won't protrude past the rub strips anyway...then be careful.

I put my racks on top.

It is much easier, in my boat to get to the boards. And lessens the risk of people dropping boards on my boat while hanging off the side.

i can live with dripping...the metal track for the travel lift is on one side of the slip and at low tide the racks could get underneath it and when the tide comes bak up id be screwed...and the tower is being custom made now...its goin to like the mc x-series tower but it wont fold....so the racks will stick out

one thing to consider is the rope getting in the way, thats why the Tige rope hook is underneath instead of on top. So just make sure the racks wouldnt cause any problems with the rope while riding.

Nothing worse than drying off, sitting down to drive and having water drip on you for the entire day....

they put them on the side for a reason, this application might not work for you but for the majority of people this is the preferred location....you even get a little wet with them on the side....

PEACE

Unfortunately I have the Bull winkle look, (Boards on the very tip top of the tower. Like said above water drips on you, they are very hard to reach and the biggest problem I have with itis......Its so old school and looks retarted.....but i got it when the flight racks first came out and you had no choice but those board racks. Now its just laziness to be honest

i only have one board so theres nothing to get in the way of the rope when im riding. the tower's in the process of being made so im thinking of maybe 2 single board racks....1 on each side, so they could lay flatter. if i can get a pic to show the guy ill see if he could make it built in. any one have any pix of something like this? thanx
