When I cut back into the wake at a 90 degree angle to it, I can jump long, but not high. What's the trick to getting more height? Do I need to physically jump up as I hit the wake? Go in flat or with weight on heels/toes? Should I lock my knees or keep them bent?

Any suggestions welcome.

Speed = Distance
Edge = Height

You can hit the wake with all kinds of speed but if you aren't on edge your board won't get lift off the wake. Make sure you are carrying a true edge all the way through the wake. Read this trick tip about progressive edging...

Hey Cky, seems like you're the resident smartass based on every post I've seen from you in the forums. Do you even have a boat, or do you just like posting that fat face of yours around without saying anything worth a damn?

Thanks to the rest of you for the help.

ChasK, dont worry about it, the same questions pop up over and over and some people get frustrated. You really can find a TON of info by using the 'search' feature, you can filter it down to just one forum.

I tried to help b/c you stated specific questions and areas where you need help, there is absolutely nothing wrong with inquiring on something even if its simple or if its been answered before, the point most people will make is just to use all the resources on this site b/c they are thorough and very well put together.

Every day some new poster asks how to jump. All you gotta do is look down teh page. Its right there. I'm not being a smartass, I'm just tired of hte same repetative question asked on a DAILY>HOURLY basis.

no, you're a smartass.

if you get tired of it, you don't need to check the posts. everyone needs help on stuff

okay ChasK, try and come into the wake with a nice, progressive edge. Keep building that edge up until the very top of the wake. Once you reach the top of the wake, stand tall. That is what is meant by "popping off." The physics is that basically by building your edge, you're creating a lot of line tension, this combined with standing tall is what throws you up in the air. Standing tall works because it's the reciprocal action of the wake pushing against the wakeboarder with the same force that the wakeboarder pushed down on the wake.

You'll know it when you hit it right, because you'll get super high with very little effort.

well i have a sea ray with a small wake, I get 4-4.5 feet on a good jump, are you saying that I should be getting 6 feet? I just don't think its possible. I think i'm maxing out on my wake. WHen I go behind boats with bigger wakes I easily pop up to higher altitude. Give me your two cents

I can get 5 ft off the tiny wake of a Seadoo PWC on 1 wake jumps, so, maby u should work on that pop? I'm not saying I'm better than you, or even good, i'm just saying i think if u worked on it you could get 6 ft. I'm not criticizing, i'm just trying to help. Smile

ChasK, I wouldn't let him get to you! He does have the option of not clicking the link from the previous board! Nathan Newman, said it.. You need to keep that hard progressive edge, I have found that the standing tall part is a huge part of how much air you get.. When your riding that edge in you tend to be in a some what crouched position, the speed that you take to get to the stand tall position and the correct place to make the transition is key. The faster you move from crouched to standing tall right as you come to the top of the wake is going to get you more air.. I can get 8 feet of air off a Baja being towed from the ski eye on the back deck on a normal w2w jump.. Some people on this board tend to forgert what it was like to just be starting out on the board and tend to not be able to put themselfs back in that mindset.. My girlfriend tells me that I'm guilty of that all the time
