What are you guys doing?
Do you already have an identity website to lock and unlock all your credit reports?
143 million sounds like someone really stuff the bed on this one.
Transunion is offering a lock and unlock feature under their trueidentity.com website but that feature is currently NOT working. _________________ Wakeskating

flixmaster, I use a the credit monitoring service offered by LastPass. It gives near instantaneous alerts if anything abnormal hits your credit report.
And yes, Equifax really f*cked up bad here. Current execs likely not to survive this, especially their Chief of Security who apparently holds advanced degrees in highly correlated topics such as Music composition. Chief Security Officer. Music degree. Good times. _________________

I saw that and thought it was fake news..
No offense to any music comp majors..
Wonder how those guys were so smart to dump stock right before they discovered they were hit with a breach??
this is going to go down and go down ugly _________________ Wakeskating

flixmaster, DOJ is now investigating them for insider trading. SEC will be right behind them, as will basically all State AG's. They are more than likely screwed.
It is very easy to see their motivation, and very hard to believe their story that they didn't know what was about to go down. They really should have known better - just take the golden parachute when they got fired instead, likely big $ to walk. Now they might get a golden shower in prison instead. Greed... _________________

I looked into Lastpass it did seem like that. I tried to see if the paid features had other options.
Yep golden showers for everyone involved!
I've tried for days to lock my report on Transunion and the online system just keeps telling me there is a problem.

Was able to use the free lock on trueidentity to lock my Transunion report today. That has been broke for a week. Looks like the IT guys got if figured out. _________________ Wakeskating

churchy, yes, but they have a credit monitoring/identity theft component. It's $9.99/mo which is about the best pricing out there today for this kind of service. _________________

CISO 101 --- Patch your stuff.
Hopefully the class action settlement covers the multiple years of identity protection services that everyone is now having to shell out for. |

I just placed a fraud alert on my accounts. I don't pull stuff from credit much so I figured the extra phone call would be worth it. It only lasts 3 months so I will just add it again until I figured out what is going to happen with all this mess. _________________ Wakeskating

There is no doubt that it will.
But really, they should just make their entire credit monitoring suite (ID Patrol) free for several years and do it right now and be very public about it.
Of course, do you expect a firm like this to do that (without being forced to do so)? Yeah, me neither. _________________

So this all died down and I have not heard another thing about it.
What is going on in this whole breach issue?
Is Equifax going to get it handed to them or they just going to keep plugging away and start collecting $29.99 out of my monthly once this 'FREE' service expires.
What a great way to get recurring revenue. Have a breach, offer up a free solution to protect YOUR data, then start charging all the customers after the FREE trial expires. _________________ Wakeskating
