Looking for some advice and suggestions here. For those of you that have active deer populations around your place, what have you found can be planted and not get eaten by the deer? I'm looking for plants for planters, shrubs in planters, smaller trees, flowers, bulbs, etc. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

No such thing.
The only chance you have is to get a dog and let him have the run of the property. Dog's scent plus repeatedly being chased off is only hope.
I speak from experience. Tried everything, those Bubb Rubb are persistent. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

Our dog had free reign of our property up until she died just over a year ago. Before then, absolutely zero issues with deer around the house. After that, the deer are definitely getting more comfortable with coming near the house. |

I don't plan to have a dog have the run of the property, because I want deer around for other reasons. At the same time, I'd like to make sure they have something to eat and some things they don't eat that I can "decorate" with...LOL!
I'll look at the scotchbroom. I've heard they don't seem to care much for most of the evergreens, is that true? _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Rocks, cactus?
We have about an acre fenced in with 8 foot fence surrounding our house. |

Not much you can do about this. Fence, dog, or plants typically used in xeriscape style landscaping is about it.
We have bigger problems with jackrabbits. The deer seem to be less destructive than the rabbits at least where I live. |

That would be for filling the freezer, not getting the plants to grow. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

jjaszkow, the xeriscape idea was something in the back of my mind that may be feasible. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Invasive species[edit]
Broom as an invasive species in the United States.
C. scoparius has been introduced into several other continents outside its native range and is classified as a noxious invasive species in California and the Pacific Northwest in North America,[11] and in Australia,[13] New Zealand[14] and India.[15] These shrubs commonly grow in disturbed areas and along utility and transportation rights-of-way. The prolific growth of this species after timber harvest inhibits reforestation by competing with seedling trees.[16] It is estimated that it is responsible for US$47 million in lost timber production each year in Oregon.[17] In New Zealand, broom is estimated to cost the forestry industry NZ$90 million, and to cost farmers NZ$10 million
I am pretty sure the scotchbroom suggestion was tongue in cheek. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |
