Somehow I managed to crack the thick back support on my snowboard binding (Burton Customs). I'm probably going to buy new bindings, but figure I might as well try to fix it; it seems possible.

Would you:

1-through bolt a metal plate over the crack (brace it)
2-try to fiberglass/resin it (I think it's some kind of strong plastic)
3-melt it back together with a torch
4-Gorilla glue and duct tape
5-other

See picture below

Combo of 1,2 and 4 would probably get it done

I would try 2 first and add in 1 if it doesn't seem like it will hold.

I would probably try JB Weld on it first.

Burton has a lifetime warranty on baseplates. And since that heel cup is part of the base plate mold (it's one piece), it should be covered. Doesn't hurt to contact them.

Wazzy, Didn't know that, thanks for the heads up. I'll try to contact them and see what they say.

If not, I think I'll start with fiberglass/resin and see if it bonds at all.

Wazzy was spot on. Called up Burton and they said yep, no problem on covering it. The only catch is I have to find a receipt proving they were purchased at an authorized dealer from 2005 or 2006.

Odds=Slim.

Found the receipt and mailed off the bindings to Burton last Wednesday. 10 days later a box arrives at my door with brand new 2015 Customs. Razz

Talk about customer service! They just got a lifelong customer.

Thanks again to Wazzy for the heads up.
