48 years!

Today, my parents are celebrating their 48 year wedding anniversary. They've been a great example to our family and I'm very proud of their achievement.

Congratulations, I hope that they are at least as happy now as they were when they decided to get married!

I know they love each other very much and plan to stay together as long as they live. I'm not sure you can compare happiness at marriage to happiness at 40+ years of marriage. There is a lot that changes and you mature together into a very different place. I know they would both tell you they wouldn't change a thing.

My parents have been together for 40 years.

I wish to God that they had divorced a long time ago, though.

Life is so varied and complex, you know?

Anyway, is there a family party or dinner to mark this occasion?

Yep.

Nothing planned for this year, although my brother may do something with them. He and I have been scheming a little as to the plans for the 50th. We've talked about doing a big family get together and talked about possibly doing an Alaskan cruise. We'll see...it's a big expense for my family to even get to CA to see them.
