Weevils

Anyone had to deal with these little bastards before? Found two on Friday in a brownie mix. Then found out on Saturday that our entire pantry was infested. We've thrown away all dry good (pasta, cereal, crackers, granola bars, etc). I've wiped down the entire pantry with bleach and vinegar a few times (read on a few websites that they hate vinegar). And yet we still have a couple trickling in every few hours. I've gone through 2 tubes of caulk trying to recaulk the entire pantry and fill in any small holes in the wall I came across. Cannot figure out where they are coming from.

This is so gross and I am losing sleep over it. Help please.

You'll need an exterminator. Granules in the attic and yard. Interior sprayed, then repeat in 30 days or whenever the gestation period is up for those critters.

Sucks, contact haugy for alternative measures.

*SIGH*

Exterminator comes on Monday. Stupid apartment complex won't let anyone else come in except their contracted exterminator. They come every Monday (yup, Mon was a holiday so that means nothing til next Monday).

So gross. I LOVE cooking too, so this is killing me.

The Weevil eggs were probably already in packaged food when you bought and they just hatched and made their way out of the packaging. Especially flour and any dried pasta.
If you see it save the packaging and notify the company. Pretty sure the bug eggs are/were allowable by FDA standards. But it could also mean that the processing plants aren't being too rigid about the quality and cleanliness of the production line.
You can save a lot of your foods by putting them in airtight containers or ziplock bags. This also keeps the adult weevils from boring into packaged foods.

After two trips from the exterminator and $100 worth of airtight containers, all weevils are dead. FINALLYYYY!!!!!!!!! Mr. Green
