^ then you shouldnt give two shits about Sitake, right?

My bigger point would be, mich is gonna go back to the spread? That is just about perfect. 100 years of power football, then (Sea Change, RichRod, burn the ships when you reach the new continent) for 4 years, then return to power football for 4 years, then back to the spread.

Huh? Hell yea I care about Sitake. Great coach, great recruiter. I think he's the heir apparent to Whit. Second most important coach on staff, though I don't want the 7th(8th?) OC in as many years either.

Whit would be GREAT running the ball, he's far from locked into the spread.

My perception, and granted this is from a distance, is that Utah went away from the spread with Andy Ludwig when Whit first took over for Urb and have gravitated back to spread.

Edit* i googled 2006 Utah Football and watched highlights of thr Armed Forces bowl. Looks like they were running spread(at least single back shotgun) which is very different than what Ludwig did at Oregon a couple years earlier. Which makes me wonder if it was Whits instruction to keep the spread.

jt09,
I agree we won't have him long. I'm curious what would happen if malzahn left while muschamp was still at auburn.

REMAIN CALM. I am now getting some chatter to the effect that Harbaugh is coming, pending t-crossing and i-dotting. None of it is from a source I would consider rock solid, and all of it comes with an ominous "barring a last second change of heart" disclaimer. Please remain calm.

tosu oc tom herman headed back to texas to coach at houston. great pickup for them and nice stepping stone gig for him.

can't believe they were looking at muschamp for that gig - would have been an amazingly poor fit.

No, I am reporting rumor, I have not seen what will be Dave Aranda's new contract....Laughing

I am not sure OSU has more $$$$ for assistants than Wisconsin, but I sounds like OSU is willing to spend more for assistant coaches.

....and then Dave stays at Wisconsin to be the DC under Chryst.... Laughing

That said, would like to see what kind of raise DA received....

^ which makes the whole thing that much more bizarre.

a&m better hurry up w/ those assistant coaching hires. they're running out of potential defensive coordinator options and they need to make a splash there.

Houston's a big city. It takes a while to screen all those coaches.

if you're going to take the uh dc (whose name escapes me), you've got to wait til after the bowl game. they don't play til jan 2. it's not like you haven't gone after like 6 other guys so far. i'll say this - if you end up w/ manny diaz, i'm going to lmao.

The longer A&M waits to hire their DC, the more I'm going to freak out. Bud Foster has a huge annuity that he gets paid if he's still at VT at the end of the month. Aka he's not leaving until after the bowl game. If A&M has really locked him up, that would explain why all is quiet for now. I'll lose it if Bud leaves. Crying or Very sad

I have no idea who has been offered and what the plan is. I was joking because we/they mostly hire out of Houston.

the most obvious choice right now is the dc at uh, who is now the temp coach w/ the levine firing. he actually had a pretty salty defense this year, but i have no clue how that will transfer to a&m/$ec!$ec!$ec! it's definitely not the splash hire they were looking for, but there's not many splash hires left.

A&M may have already waited too long, or didn't convince their recruits they were making the right hire - Daylon Mack decommitted today and Malik Jefferson went to TU instead of Aggieland. Not good for defense needs. http://tamu.247sports.com/Bolt/Five-Star-DT-Daylon-Mack-Decommits-From-Texas-AM-33996197

They haven't played defense the last few years anyway. Why start something new?

Dave Christensen to TAMU as run game coordinator and OLine coach. Though I'm not excited at another OC(like 8th in 8 years), word is that Dave was a cancer to the staff and there was A LOT of internal turmoil related to him.

Wonder if they'll give Roderick the job....

No love in the Intermountain West.... Seems like Chris Hill(Utah AD) and Whit are going the rounds. He's low balling and throwing out minimum years on extensions for assistants, Whit is losing guys like an ugly prom date. This isn't what you'd want after a 9 win year, when 5 was expected.

Getting ugly(public), as email at a State Uni are public and the press is getting it.

Going from awesome to ugh, quickly....

is that really what you want? i would think vt fan would be ready for a housecleaning and completely new regime.

speaking of foster, you can add him to the list of names a&m hasn't hired for dc. chavis, muschamp, venables, durkin, gibbs...they really are running out of available dc to make that "splash hire."
