And free right? Anything to talk about with that release?

I guess the partners had a good year, we are all getting an ipad air when they come out.

Lots of backend improvements. Memory use, battery life, processing optimizations, etc.

There are a handful of frontend items, but this one is more about the nuts and bolts - you know the stuff that matters.

Really like the iPad Air. Not going to get one, but it's damn nice. What was more surprising was the iPad mini getting the same internals as the Air.

I can tell you that I will be replacing my aging Dell Precision Desktop unit (6 years old) with either a MBP15 or MBP13 very soon. The MBP13 is an absolute beast for that price.

STPHNSN23, nope. Requires 2gb of memory and an existing copy of 10.6.8 or later.

And I'll be getting the 15" mbp once I decide which processor to go with.

Upgraded to Mavericks yesterday. Why did Apple decide that switching the locations of "Open Link in New Tab" and "Open Link in New Window" was a good idea? While it's now the same as all of the other major browsers, the change is really annoying.

Overall, pretty happy with Mavericks so far.

Downloaded and installed. Haven't really seen any difference.

I haven't been paying much attention lately...what is broken with Mavericks? Is this totally going to bork my super ancient 2007 MBP? Laughing

So far I've briefly skimmed over these:
-iWork has been "updated"
-some WiFi issues
-sporadic gmail issues (why this would be an issue I'm not sure...)

iWork I have but I don't use, but from what I can tell they have just made it more "pretty" which I can only imagine is to further it towards a final destination where it will be converged with the iOS version.

I have had any wifi issues on either the '09 iMac or the '12 MBA13.

Gmail doesn't work very well in the stock Mail app. Not that it ever did! I prefer the web interface for it anyhow.

Those aside, between the two computers I haven't noticed any issues. It wasn't a very front-facing update, so other than a few small things (like folder tagging) I haven't really noticed any difference between ML and Mavs (probably a good thing).

Not a Mavericks issue, but still...

Western Digital has emailed customers warning them about possible data loss when connecting external hard drives to Macs with OS X Mavericks installed.

In other news, there's still people out there that install the crapware that came with their external hard drive. Laughing

Procedure when getting a new ext drive (be it a USB stick or 3tb hdd):

Open Disk Utility (or Explorer/Disk Management on Win)
Select new drive
ERASE and reformat as FAT32
PROFIT!!!!

Laughing
