I can't get an ollie down and I really am trying. Do ollie blocks really work or not? I am thinking of buying a pair.

are those like those soft trucks that keep the board from moving but still give the feel of riding with trucks? if thats what you are talking about they are unnecesary. they may help when learning new tricks but you can still learn without them. just keep practicing and read some of the posts on ollies in this forum.

Hold onto something waist height and use it to push yourself up. It will give you more height and therefore more time in the air.

Ollie blocks/softrucks/whatever=big waste o' money. I seriously think it helps a lot more to learn ollies moving right away. That way you figure out the forward/back balance as well as landing and rolling away.

el, i completely disagree with you. if people try learning ollies moving first the falls will be worse and therefor discourage them from learning. i think for most people learning ollies is easier in grass because the falls are softer and you dont have to worry about the board slipping out.

Get a piece of 2x4 and cut it in half and you won't have to go buy any. Or just do it on grass or something like the others suggested.
