Excited that the boys are back on the ice. Even get free Center Ice for a week or 2....
Avs game was fun last night and I've said it before, very happy with the Roy hire. 1 game does not a season make & it's going to be an up and down one, but I think the Avs make the playoffs, which is progress.
Some of the below is fun, some more serious....but truth be told, I'm not that dialed into MANY of the other teams in the league....so I go with what I know...
West Champ : Kings
East Champ : Pens
Stanley Cup Champion : Pens
Calder : MacKinnon of course….
Norris : Doughty
Hart : Crosby
Vezina : Varlamov, who is going to lead the Avs to the playoffs.
My 1 game assesment of the Oilers. It'll come down to their goaltender. I predict they squeak into the playoffs (or there will be a riot here).
West Champ : Hawks
East Champ : Brunis
Stanley Cup Champion : Bruins
Calder : Drouin (although i watched Mackinnon at the memorial cup and he was awesome)
Norris : Webber (if paired up with Seth Jones)
Hart : Crosby
Vezina : Rask
Darkhorse this season is Columbus
Flames finish last in the west (and overall) and Panthers last in the East

Last night's Avs game was awesome and I'm freaking pumped for the season. Even just a LITTLE bit of solid play on the blue line is going to make them a team that nobody wants to play. _________________

He tied the franchise record tonight with 4 goals in a game (set by Owen Nolan).
Set the franchise record tonight for something...I think for the fastest hat trick.
No clue how strong the Canucks, Coyotes and NY Rangers are, but the Sharks have won 4-1, 4-1, and 9-2. Not a bad way to start the season. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

Canes are off to a decent start at 1-1-1. Defense is vastly improved, Ward is back...have a few key injuries at the moment but this team on paper should be pretty good. We are also in a new ridiculously hard division though so it'll be tough to (ever) make the playoffs.

^^^^ You know for the next year, that is all I am going to see every kid trying to do... Every warm-up across the country will be kids trying to go bar down with the Hertl move.....

Somebody is going to run that guy in the next few games to try to "put him in his place." Hopefully he doesn't get injured as a result. _________________

AVS 4-0 with their shutout win in Beantown! I'm on the road and was unable to watch, thought was getting updates on the phone. It's only 4 games, but unbelievable all the same. Go Avs!
little bit of luck in that result as the bruins were hitting pipe a ton in the first, and it could have been a very different game. great win for the avs though. have to say, as much as I hate the habs, I always liked roy. liking him on the bench too.
Went to the Preds/Wild game Tuesday night and sat about 7 rows off the glass. It's the first NHL game I've been to and I have to say it's a different environment than any other live sporting event I've been to. It was basically one huge party with Vince Gill (not a country fan, but still entertaining) playing during the intermissions.

Canes had a nice win last night over the Caps which is always great. Can't believe how well 5'5 Nathan Gerbe is playing especially since Buffalo gave him away to us for free.
Glad he was was suspended for that. I was surprised there was no call initially, but I am a bit sensitive since a Sharks player was involved. Thankfully, Edler didn't put his elbow up. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

arof, interesting game last night. Glad my Canes could fight back from down 0-2. We finally got a break with what I think was the worst goal in NHL history, sucks to win on a fluke but I'll take whatever we can get at this point.
I gotta find the video for any of you all that didn't see this...
E.J., they were not shut out in regular season. They were shut out twice vs Boston in the playoffs (and were swept). They won every single game in the month of March
I'm pretty bummed that the Avs and Sharks don't play until late December. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

Avs had no business winning that game. Shoulda lost 3 or 4 to 1, if not worse. I was amazed at their penalty killing. JSG was awesome! _________________

Both goalies, penalty kill and D have been awesome all year. Whole new attitude in Colorado... Avs have allowed second fewest goals(12) in the league this year, second only to Boston(10), who have played 2 fewer games. They are leading the league in GA & PK. This wont last long, as they are 25th in shots allowed on goal....
Offense is holding its own. 8th in goals scored & PP. Making the most of their shots, as they are 20th in SOG.
I still think they are going to drop back middle of the pack, but showing far more than anyone expected. It's been fun so far!

Can't decide if that is disappointing or good.... Don't really want to walk into that buzzsaw right now, then again, the Avs are on a roll....so maybe now is better than when they come back to Earth....
