That won't work. You can only sign up during the open enrollment period to participate in the exchanges, and if you go outside the exchange there will be a waiting period before the coverage kicks in. _________________

Obamacare Penalties: 3 Things to Know Before 2014
Here's one. (The rest are listed in the link.)
Quote: | Penalty, shmenalty?
You might also want to know about one other minor detail about the Obamacare penalties: The IRS can't go after taxpayers who don't pay up. That's right -- the Affordable Care Act didn't include any provisions for the tax agency to enforce collection of the penalties.
2014 tax returns, which aren't due until April 2015, will include a spot for taxpayers to provide information about health insurance. If any penalties apply, the IRS will subtract the penalty amount out of any refund owed. If you don't get a refund or the penalty is greater than your refund, the agency will want you to mail a check to them or send funds electronically.
What happens if you decide not to send the money? The IRS could take it out of any future tax refunds. If your taxes are withheld through your employer, the agency could also get the money through that route. However, it can't press criminal charges or assess further financial penalties for not paying. The IRS also can't place a lien on property as it can when seeking payment of overdue taxes. |

HA! I'd have to be a party hack for that to happen not to mention I'm a registered lobbyist which I'm sure is a non-starter for most of the electorate.
To the thread and as I stated on FB, The President has essentially offered, as I understand it, enforcement discretion for a year. From my dealings with statutory deadlines, even when the administration indicates they will not enforce, there are still legal liabilities that create an immediate need for compliance and will not alleviate the issue.
Only statutory changes can provide that certainty. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

Can anyone of the Left poilitcal inclination give me some perspective on what seems to be a perspective that increasing the Medicare rolls and not substantially increasing private insurance enrollment is a successful execution of the ACA?
No Trolling, serious question.

So, Barack has delayed the individual mandate.
Isn't that one of the bitter points of the Gov't Shutdown. Something that, "could never happen".
Oh and not a single mention on the National Evening News. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

It may have been. I thought the Medical Device Tax was the real sticking point though. |

My memory says
Repub: We will up the debt limit but we want a 1 year delay of the individual mandate.
Dems: OMFG!!!! NO FING WAY BARACK WILL EVER GUT HIS SIGNATURE LEGISLATIVE ACHIEVEMENT. WON'T NEGOTIATE WITH GUN TO HEAD.
*disclaimer: above represents from my perspective the MAJORITY of the debt limit negotiation.
So now he has gone ahead and done without "gun to his head " or any effort by the R's what he swore would never happen, right?
Further, it is my understanding the individual mandate delay covers anyone who will sign affidavit stating "it was a hardship to find health insurance" no standard for hardship. So that is anyone who cares to request waiver. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

I'm not sure it would be a great idea to have a gov't of 100% rookies, but I think a "No Incumbents" party could probably gain as much traction as the TEA party. The current gov't is such a chit show. |
