My wife really wants to buy stock but I'm not convinced. And if I don't pull the trigger and the stock skyrockets (similar to Amazon and Google), I'll never hear the end of it. Rolling Eyes

I've thought about selling all my vested shares in my company right now and buying FB for kicks anf giggles. There isn't a ton of value in my shares right now and i've never really considered them "cash".

A consultant out here who also consults with a small VC firm that was early to fund says all 5 employees stand to make over $100M each tomorrow. They said they're all taking next week off.

Your wife, much like my wife, is thinking emotionally. I don't have that luxury.

jryoung, house money?

House money as in remodel or landscape or house money as in "playing with the house money"

It's essentially the latter, I get RSUs and with our declining value since I started i've never really accounted for them. Basically I only really see upside potential since i've never "accounted" for them

When I first saw an iPod in September 2003 (ironically on a trip to San Jose from CT where I was packing my 100 CD Case Logic) I said they are going to make a killing probably a good stock investment at their current price $8ish....but I was fresh out of college and broke

In the summer of 2004 I was on the audit team for the Q2 review of Googles financials...a month before they went public. Eventhough I was blacked out and with a different firm the next spring I still knew they were a buy at 150....but I didn't.

There have been a handfull of other companies that Iwish I would have jumped on....one that was $90 in March 09 at the bottom.....the are north of 500 today.

These past passes but good insight (luck) really has me wondering right now. I don't want to add another to the list....but don't want to buy on "tilt".

Depending on demand, it might open higher. Potentially much higher. The price is just the initial setting. The "free" market will set the price.

My only kicker was when Case tractor was folding and a friend of a friends dad mentioned that another company was in talks. Didn't do a thing and the stock jumped by a stuff ton the day the new broke. Think it shot up something like multiple times. And I was sitting on a good lump of change from a malpractice suite trying to figure out what to do with it. Damnit...

And yes, the suite was justified. I would have gladly have given the monies back in exchange for the damage caused.

Opened at $42.05 and is not moving much off that just yet. Did bounce to 45 for a flash, but it's quiet right now.

If it drops back 3-5%, I think you will a sell off.

41.2 now

$40.... seems like there is support at this level. It broke for a moment down to 39.8 but went right back to 40.

jcush313, institutional got filled - more than they expected. They sold off what they didn't really want and made a killing on the back of the retail investors.

IOW - you aren't smarter than institutional, and they took advantage.

Support at 38. Holding tough... for now!

So they supported the hell out of it at 38 and it has bounced nicely. 39.7 or so and seemingly leveling out.

What's it trading at... near 100 times earnings? Sounds like a steal. Rolling Eyes Might be some short term money to be made, but I am not buying any!

Facebook shares recently traded at $33.60, down 12% on the day, in brisk trading. Based on that price, the company is now valued at $92.06 billion, below the $104 billion it was worth at the time of the IPO. Facebook shares need to hit $36.50 to go above $100 billion again.

Still time to get in! Idea
