Awesome! It's already been rooted too, so lots of fun hacks will be coming soon! I already saw a gameboy emulator being played through it!

I got my chromecast today. Setup on my laptop was a breeze, but I couldn't get my nexus 7 to connect. Casting a youtube video was easy. Quality was top notch as well.

EDIT: Casting a movie off of my phone and the quality is very good. Is there anything anyone ewants me to try?

Have you tried sending a Chrome browser tab over to the TV? I just learned about that feature today and it seems handy. Can you send over tabs and make sites like Hulu full-screen even if Hulu isn't directly supported by the device?

Yes you can. I tried playing a vimeo video like this, but it was rather laggy. I'll have to give it another go later.

You can watch all DTV channels on your home network. I am interested to seeing if I can use this to send DTV to an outside TV so I don't have to figure out how to get A/V signal out there.

Interested in this as well. It'd be perfect if it works.

In theory that should work. The only limitation being if for some crazy reason DTV used Silverlight or Quicktime.

That said, you will want the strongest possible WiFi signal pointed out there. I don't know what your network looks like, but I'd want the router or a repeater as close as possible to the outside wall nearest the outside tv.

I got mine last night. Went from in the box to watching a movie in under 5 minutes. My wife figured it out very quickly too.

This thing rocks. I'm getting one for every TV in my house.

wakeboarderdave1, I'm thinking about uploading my home network to dropbox for that reason...

The guy who I posted the last two videos of said that he had been working on an app for two years that is perfect for Chromecast. I'm not sure if these are features of the app though.

The more I hear, the more I want to pick up a couple of these suckers. Been checking stores in my area but the only stores that have been even getting them are way too far a drive. Might just order it online somewhere.

I'd just order online and get my place in line for when the next batches become available. If something pops up local, you can always cancel.

Just went to order one on Amazon, start at $65 now. Waiting for amazon to restock and hopefully be back at $35.

Can't believe some people, haha. was on eBay looking for something else and people are buying for $60-$75. No wonder these sell out so quick , people going to stores and clearing out the inventory if they can for resale.

The only real experience I've had with this is using Netflix. And so far it has worked really well. Here's a couple more apps/programs that will make this thing more awesome.

I'm very excited to get mine, but I will have to keep an eye at best buy and hope for luck. I ordered one but it will be months it seems... Sad

Sweet! Looks like a handful of the BB stores in my area have it. (hopefully their website zip code search is right). I'll pick a couple up tonight if it's true. Love getting new gadgets!

If anyone out there is impatient and wants me to pick one up and ship I'd be happy to (assuming they let me buy multiple, planning to get two myself). Just PM me in the next hour or so.

I went in to BB to return something the other day, they had a display full of them. At least 20 on the display...

My store was practically cleaned out. They had a section set up that could probably hold about 40 of them but only had 5 left, rest was just empty shelf space.

Well that sucks. Hope people keep cracking them, and/or Google lightens up some. To be able to play videos from my computer or phone, not necessarily just internet videos, was the big feature for me.

I wonder if they're keeping it locked-down until the final SDK is released. Might not want customers to have a bad experience with half-baked apps as the device rolls-out. I hope that's the case anyway.

Or it could be part of the reason they did this so cheap. Supplementing the rest of the cost with payment from partners to be a part of their "chromecast approved" apps, who knows? Would be a bummer, but I'm really only using mine for Netflix right now anyway.

I imagine once things settle with the SDK they'll be ways around the issue if you really want to crack it.
