Does anyone know a good ballast system/good weight setup that I could use in my 1989 Supra Sunsport? I would like to have all the sacs hidden but its okay if they aren't.

When I first started with mine, I put the bags next to the motor and that worked well. When I did my stringer rebuild, I opened up the front bilge area to hide a bag. I also rebuilt my rear seat to accomodate a hidden bag and did some reinforcement of the ski locker to store a bag there. Do a search on here and I think you will find a couple threads that will help. I'm using the standard Moomba ballast bags under the rear seat and in the ski locker that are around 400#. I have a launch pad 350# bag up in the front bilge area. I also have around 200# hard weight hidden in the bow storage.

One difference with vette's system and mine is I am using one Simer pump and a manual ball valve manifold for fill and drain. There are pros and cons to both set ups that are worth considering.

hey Andrew, I saw your post in the other thread asking for pics as well, sorry about the delayed response. I should have some pictures up soon since I've been on vacation all week and doing some riding.
In my opinion, front weight is the most important on sunsports. I run a 650 v bag up front and with that and a few people in back evenly distributed, it's a good wake. I run side 540's as well and that will really ramp it up, if you have the prop to handle the weight.

Jtryon so I just bought a 89 sunsport in great condition with only 500 hours. Could I ask you to take some pics of you sacs and where you put them if they are all hidden. Thanks a lot!

i hide my front 650 under the seat when I'm going to have more than 6 people on the boat, but no pics of that and it's not plumbed yet. i still throw the pump over the side to fill all my bags. that being said, i do have some wake pics from a buddy riding on my vacation week last week...this will show you what you'll get out of a front 650 and 6 people on the boat, total of the 6 people being about 1000lbs.

and by the way, make your first upgrade a prop. i'm running an 11-pitch (stock is 13) and it struggles if i have 8 people and the full 1700lbs ballast. go with at LEAST a 10.5 if you're going to have a lot of friends on all the time. personally i'm going with a 10 or 9.5 next season so i'll never have to worry again.
