|
|
Hi everybody!
I'm new to wakeboarding, I've been riding more and more for a few months and start to really get addicted So I now think about buying my own gears
I'm searching mainly for a cable board to do sliders/kickers and hopefully to do air tricks one day If I can use the board with the boat it's an added bonus, but not my priority.
I'm 1m80 70kg (5'11", 154 lb)
Here's what I found in my price range:
Liquid Force Witness Grind 136
Slingshot Newton 142 (2012 model)
Slingshot Reflex 142 or 137
What would be the best board for me ?
Thank you in advance! |

They are all great boards for what you want to do, but the Witness is very different from the Slingshot decks.
The first question to ask yourself is if you want a board with flex or not. The slingshot boards are made to bend quite a bit. I personally really enjoy flex boards for riding cable to do nose/tail presses on rails. I'm not much in to air tricks but they're pretty good for that as well, although a little more difficult when you're learning as you need to have a solid edge down and they don't really have fins to help.
If you want a non-flex board, the Witness is great. I own one and it's fantastic for both boat and cable (slingshots are fine for boat too, but I just don't like flex boards for boat riding). The Witness also REALLY great for air tricks in my experience, the thing just wants to leap out of the water. |

Thanks for your reply, I finally went for the ss reflex.
I know that they don't feel the same at all, and that flex boards need some time to get used to as they feel slippery, but I think it will me more fun at the cable to be able to do presses, to have a flat surface to spin on sliders, and from what I understood it will provide softer landings...
From what I saw, people can manage air tricks and boat very well with it these kind of boards anyway. I'll compare my learning curves with the ones of my friends on regular boards |

Depends on how you ride, but if you learn right on a flex board it'll be soft. The witness is also great. The hybrid rocker + a slight 'v' base makes landings great on that board.
All of the boards you listed are great in their own ways though and I'm sure you'll be happy with it. At that point, it's all about personal preference. |
