Looks great. Great timber work and love the tile roof. From the pics it really looks like you went for quality. And you can't rush quality.

DUAL stackable W/D units, eh? pretty cool Idea I guess for not that much more $$. I wouldn't have thought of this upgrade, is it a common upgrade on custom homes nowadays?

Multiple washers and dryers is pretty common, but usually one set in the master closet and one set in the laundry room is what I've seen. Whether they're stacked or not is up to the owner. I didn't want a set in my closet, and my wife didn't want one in hers, so we decided to just put 2 in the laundry room. |

Did you do anything special in the cabinets in the kitchen for appliance caddies, special cookware storage, etc?

The walls are hand textured. The opening in the kitchen ceiling is natural light. If you look at the view from the outside, front of the house, the two skylights left of the front porch are above the kitchen island. The microwave drawer will be built into one side of the island and the fridge will be built in the large opening you see. Other than some drawers for pots and pans hidden behind cabinet doors, there's nothing special as far as cabinet storage. No retractable blenders or anything like that. |

All of the cabinets and drawers in the house actually do have soft close hinges and drawer sliders. The house was intentionally designed so that the bedrooms are far from the kitchen. I hated trying to sleep late in high school only to be interrupted by slamming cabinet doors, oven timers, and people talking in the kitchen. I'm always the first one up at my house, but maybe my wife and kids will appreciate my foresight. |

So laundry can be done in 1/2 the time.
My first job out of college was in Wyoming, where I lived in an apartment with no washer and dryer. I would wait until all my clothes were dirty, then go to the laundromat and put them in 4 washers followed by 4 dryers. I could knock out 4 loads of laundry in about an hour. Now that I'm a married homeowner, I don't do my laundry, but my wife does and she waits until she has about 10 loads to do before she starts. Between errands and distractions, laundry is a 2 day chore for her. Multiple washers and dryers was my idea and I would have been fine with 3 or 4 stacks, but my wife and I agreed on 2. |

I doubt it. That room is sort of the formal living room and we have a media room elsewhere in the house. I went ahead and had it wired for a TV in case we ever wanted one there, but those outlets will probably be covered by a picture or painting. |

| pyrocasto, you're right. Most cabinets will be painted except island, wet bar, and office (not pictured). The painted cabinets will be some shade of off-white with a brown glaze. The alder cabinets will be stained medium-dark brown. |

That is out most popular items for the last couple years, off white with a glaze, and brown stained alder. Nearly half of what we do probably, and it always looks great. Cant wait to see it finished!

Great idea on the W/D setup. Not a big problem for us, but if we expand the family I could see that being useful as hell.
Also love the microwave idea. We ended up hiding our microwave in a cabinet as well. We don't use the microwave a ton anyway, so I figured why should I stare at one 24/7. We put a commercial-style hood above the stove in that spot and could not be happier with it. 600cfm FTW.
Love seeing this in action. Will be very cool to see your finished product!

We got Samsung Front Load W/d on Black Friday deal 3 years ago. Couldn't be happier. The will handle loads twice the size of our old builders special maytags . I could only see two for a family of 6 or more, unless you have space and money to spare. Or if the extra set handles the sorting, folding and hanging.

That picture is actually a sitting area in the master bedroom with a door to the backyard, but the entry hall has the same floor which is the same as the front porch and patio.
My wife just had to have that sink or a copper sink. Everyone told her she would hate copper. I don't think she's going like leaning against that rough rock though. I thought we could replace it if she doesn't like it, but it weights 700# and the counter tops will be cut around it, so it's going to be tough to change. |

Took a few new pics yesterday.
Front of the house. They bringing dirt in for the flowerbeds and front yard.
Closer view of front porch. As Okie asked, the flagstone on the front porch is also in the entry hall of the house. The front porch beams will be stained the same as the other wood. There will be gas lanterns added on each side of the front door where the pipes and romex are stubbed out.
It's tough to get a good picture of texture, but this section was glazed yesterday which makes the texture a little more visible.
Kitchen island after staining. I'm told all counter tops should be in by the end of this week.
