The inlaws have just bought a lake houe here near dallas and have appointed me to pick the boat since I am the only person in the family who has owned a boat, or have even driven one. we have 8 adults in the immediate family and 7 grand kids under the age of 6. So ive been looking at 24' boats. Here is the list

2012 new X-45
2013 X-45
2013 malibu 247 VLX
2013 Malibu 24 MXZ
2013 Nautique G23

My wife and I just sold out 08 21 VLX about 2 years ago and had no issues with it. Mother inlaw said to pick one that would best fit the family. she is thinking Family/Wake boat, im thinking Wake/Family boat, but its not my money. any input is appreciated

Without any doubt I would pick the G23.

IMO would go with the G23. The G23 is going handle rougher water easier with the high gunnels and the fact the boat is massive. It produces arguably the biggest and best wake on the market. The G23 is not going to have a mellow wake even unweighted. I have 2 g23's on my lake already and the wake this thing puts out is massive.

If you just want the size to fit your family and have good water most of the time the 247 is the limo of wake boats. Both are going to produce a wake that you can surf although I think the 247 needs additional weight. The malibu is going to produce a mellower wake for beginners and skiers or kids.

G23 is the best boat out there. You can't go wrong with the SAN G23

I would test drive a few of those boats. The G23 is going to be a really heavy boat. Be prepared to buy a new truck just to get it from the dealer to the boat dock.. Smile Also be prepared to spend 30-40K more for the G23 or G25 depending on what size you get.

I saw demo back to back a G23-25 and a MXZ 24. Let us know what you decide after the demo.

Just ordered the 24 MXZ. I liked the G3 but at 6000lbs. the wake would have been way to big to teach a 6yr old how to wakeboard. And i liked the surf gates on the Malibu. man that boat has alot of room. should be here in April

Even though I would have chosen the G23 if I were in your position, that's a mighty fine boat you just ordered!!! Congrats man. I also totally dig the color scheme you picked, very clean.

looks really good.. Get you some rear sacs and put some weight in the nose and you should be set.

Congrats on the Malibu, its beautiful! Solid color choice too.

I ordered a G23 2 weeks ago. It has NSS (Nautique Surf System) which is a competitor to Surfgate. Close enough of a competitor I hear Correct Craft has some "papers" on their desk from Malibu.

The G23 needs no aftermarket ballast, and the test drive/ride I took in late 2012 was enough to get me to buy one.

Which Dallas lake BTW?

Regards,

Dusty

Dusty,
thanks, the boat should be done by the end of the month. then off to the stereo shop. yeah i heard from the dealership that there were going to be some "paper" sent to correct craft. Not having to weigh the boat was my fear with the G23, Im the only wakeboarder in the family and im going to be teaching the kids from age 6-3 this summer. So i really didnt want to drowned them.
