Too many of those points hit home and make you feel uneasy or something?

1. Called democracy.
2. You have to give some degree of trust to gov. If not, your not part of society. Time to leav.
3. Hmm... They can influence it.
4. Not sure what the point is here. Since society was founded, government has been twisting in its own lawful skin.
5. When trading and selling items that have potential to harm me or my family. Yes.
6. Absolutely. You would want to be forced to sell to a competitor or an enemy?
7. What?
8. Disagree.
9. Yes, there is a difference between a minority vs. majority opinion. If the majority of the USA wanted something in place it would go the route of legislation.
10. Happens for the oil companies too.
11. Once again I defer to democracy.
12. That right should be amended. It is a goddamn curse on this country.
13. Damn straight.
Statist. Where do I sign up?

Where do you sign up? China would probably be a good choice.
I assume you agree with democracy? Why would you want democracy?

Well based on your answers you like statist ideas. China has implemented those kinds of ideas quite well. Seems like a good place to be if those or the ideas you agree with.
I agree with liberty and freedom, which is why I want to be in America and to defend the ideals it was founded upon and work to protect them. I'm not asking to sign out or sign up for something other than that. If you're one that wants to sign up to those ideals, why not look at going to a country that has those already in place?

stuff. You agree with individual needs above the collective. Something America was not founded on. Like I said, find a place to hide, the woods of northern MN or swamps of FL are probably your best bet.

I agree with individual rights above the collective and also the limiting of government in order to protect those rights and liberties. That is exactly the ideals this country was founded upon.

Wrong, a small collective broke away from another large collective and decided to found a like minded collective. Its called a society. If you don't find yourself fitting within or able to tolerate its mold then you either adapt, flee, or be broken by it.

OK, I see your point to some extent. I do agree with the "collective" that founded this country and believe in the ideals they recognized and established. Those ideals include the recognition of individual rights that were endowed by our Creator, including life, liberty, etc. They also specifically laid out the rights that cannot be taken away by government, and established a Constitutional Republic so that the majority didn't rule and try to take rights away from others.
I agree...if you don't find yourself fitting in or tolerating, there are some options. The ideals you are supporting by trying to take certain rights away aren't tolerating or adapting...you're trying to change and recreate. You're also trying to enforce a democracy where one does not exist. Those are statist ideas and fit well with socialism and communism, not a Constitutional Republic...hence the whole point of the OP.

Glad we live in a republic with explicit protections of individual rights as opposed to a democracy where mob rule is tyranny.

Nor*Cal, agreed. Democracy is very dangerous. The beauty of the Constitutional Republic is that it preserves individual rights. Even if everyone in this country wanted to take my rights away, the Constitution still protects them.
I think many people have been fooled into thinking democracy is good and collectivism is the path they want to head down.
Saw this cartoon this morning and thought it was fitting to the discussion.
nmballa, I don't think you really want the idea of democracy to take over, do you? Would you really like it if that was our foundation here in America and a bunch of us could band together and vote away an individual right that you hold near and dear?

Why? Trying to silence someone who you don't agree with is much more disturbing than Okie's inane drivel.
