A gun law that SHOULD be passed

Rather than any of the bans on magazine capacity, pistol grips, yadda yadda, I would really like to see a ban on brightly colored stocks and other furniture.

My reasons are twofold:

1- It goes toward creating a culture where guns are toys for amusement.
2- Second, and MOST importantly, it blurs the distinction between a toy gun and an actual gun.

There is a law here in NY, and it might even be a federal law, or, now that I think of it, it might have been a voluntary thing by toy companies... but several years ago, after a kid was shot by some cops when he ran into the wrong place at the wrong time holding a toy gun, the toy companies started making all their toy guns in bright colors. This was to prevent police officers from shooting someone playing "guns" and ending up in the wrong place at the wrong time again.

However, now that guns are available in neon pink, green, blue, whatever.... it negates that precaution, bestows "toy" status on guns, and I can't think of any good reason to accept either of those things.

I kinda agree with you here. Same reason airsoft guns have an orange tip, it quickly distinguish the difference between dangerous and playful.

Exactly. AND, on the flip side, seeing a neon pink barrel or fore-end on a rifle might make a cop hesitate to shoot, for fear of shooting someone with a toy, and get shot him or herself.
