I am helping my sister in law pick out a wakeboard for my nephew. He is 11 years old. He weighs 120lbs. He is about 5'4". His feet are 10.5. My brother is 6'6" 220 and my sister in law is 5'11". I have settled on the liquid force trip because he is a beginner but will be able to progress on this board. We had him on my parks 138 and he almost got up. He was up to his feet but leaned forward instead of back.
My question is, should I get the 134 or the 138? The 134 is 100-170lbs and the 138 is 150-220. I am leaning toward the 138 because it may be big at first but it will give more stance options and he will be able to keep using it if he hits a growth spurt. What do you guys suggest? Thanks
Always tough buying stuff for kids who are still growing. The 138 will be big, but if he sticks with things for more than a season or two he'll grow in to it like you said.
With that said, by the time he grows in to it he may want to get himself a new board anyway. So it may be a better call to get the board that's right for his size now (it will make things easier for him and save some frustration) and then upgrade to a new board & larger size later if he sticks with it.
