I'm hunting for a new pair of chest waders after putting a whole in my 15 year old pair. Kind of defeated the purpose of wearing them after that! Laughing

So who's got recommendations?
I've never had a "breathable" pair. Pros or cons?
Poly rubber compounds or Neoprene?
Boots attached or go with stocking foot style and wear old hiking boots?
Get what you pay for or bargain bob's cheap stuff is good enough? I'm not opposed to spending some money if I can get another pair to last 15 years.

Primarily will be used for shallow lake fishing and the occasional duck hunt. Live in Ohio so early spring lake temperatures are cold but not extreme like up north or glacier runoff rivers.

Thanks in advance!

I have had a pair of Simms Guide waders forever....(13+ years?) I think stocking foot is the way to go, find some great boots that fit your feet.....I'm actually going to start on my third pair of boots since getting the waders.

I have been VERY HAPPY with them. They have been comfy & durable, when I have needed to go bushwacking.

I will note that I wetwade as much as possible and have pretty much given up walking rivers during the Winter.... (Hell, there was a period that I didn't huck flies at all for a while, but I'm back, just not in the Winter yet!) I use to go silk, then fleece and you're mobile and "relatively" warm.

I used to always wear hodgemans for duckhunting here in alabama when i was younger.

Neoprene, attached boots. they kept me warm in the 40ish degree water, and never leaked.

Neoprene, attached boots. All the hillbillies are wearing them.
