I love wakeboarding and I am going to college for mechanical engineering. If I could live the dream, my job would be a pro wakeboarder, but that most likely won't happen. What are some engineering jobs that are within the wakeboarding industry?

Design engineer @ Malibu, Nautique, Mastercraft, etc...

Pitch your résumé to wakeboarding manufacturing companies, maybe you can come up with a virtual engineered composite board that revolutionizes the manufacturing process.

We have known a few guys over the years that have gone to become board designers at some of the major wakeboard companies. Might be easier to become a pro baseball player because there are probably more spots open in the Major league than in the wakeboard industry. I would also suggest looking at the boat companies because they might have more engineering jobs than the board companies. Even check the NON wake companies like SeaRay, Bayliner because a few entry level years at a boat company might lead to a job at an inboard company. Since you do wakeboard really start to use those connections. If you have a few reps that you talk with or ride for then they would be able to get you in touch with someone that might be able to get your foot in the door.

It is a great industry but don't expect to get paid the same in our industry as you would if you went to work for Boeing.. Smile

I'm not in it for the money. I'm in it because I love wakeboarding and I like engineering. The good paying salaries of engineers would just be a bonus

another job you might consider would be boat sales, if you're passionate about the industry
