Searched for the other 30 for 30 thread and it didn't come up??? Anyway....great show. Use to think Ben Johnson was a douche, now think he is okay... Use to think Carl Lewis was okay, now think he's a doper....

I still remember that race as a kid and how everyone in Canada was celebrating Johnson's win and then that huge letdown when it came out a few days later that he tested positive for steroids. It's often been said/alleged that everyone on that starting line was "doping" but Johnson was the only one dumb enough to get caught. |

The Broke episode was good. It really shows how these guys are set up for financial failure and how thier personalities (risk / reward) plays into it.

One of the best pieces of information for me came out of that scandal. In HS there were several guys that didn't want to come to summer conditioning/weight training for football because they "didn't want to get bulky and lose their speed" . I started working with a speed/agility coach my sophomore year, and somehow it was brought up and he pointed out that Ben Johnson was a bulky mofo on steroids when he won the 100M.
I went home, grabbed a copy of the Sports Illustrated where he was on the cover, cut it out and put it up on the wall of the weight room. I got a bunch more guys to turn out, and for years that picture on the cover was on the wall of the weight room to bust the misconception.
