You'll find out soon enough. Sac up and purposely take an edge to overcome that fear.

(If the pros takem at 23+ you'll be ok)

Once you take a nice bad spill all your others seem like scratch.

(I havnt had anyone on my boat complain about them)

I'm pro at faceplants. I usually get a massive head ache, and usually, as previously stated, you neck will hurt for a couple of days.

Wtf take a digger purposely, umm no thanks. Faceplants happen to everybody, just wait until u start trying tricks, faceplants from the air are like 5x worse. Just ride and progress, you will have an abundance of faceplants in the future.

If you dont just take one for the team, you will always be limited on your learning cause you are afraid and unsure if or how bad it will hurt. So go 20mph and do a 180 and catch the front edge. Then you'll be like, that didnt hurt. Telling ya

Qveon, I guess that's one way to deal with it. Not a great way, but a way.

Just ride. You're going to fall and you're going to catch edges without the patented "Qveon technique". No sense in doing it on-purpose.

well not a faceplant but i got mousetrapped on a hs blind 180 last friday and i am still sore, just as brutal as a faceplant, took me 15 minutes to get my neck to move in any direction saturday morning, so to reiterate...bad bad headache for a day or two, sore neck and possibly back and abs too for several days, and a reignited fear of catching an edge, had not had a bad fall all summer long

well how about the actuall fall itself? snowboard and catch a toe edge and you need to 'know how to fall'..throw your hands forward, they dive into the snow, you keep moving, your hands dont so you break your wrists and/or arms. does this happen in wakeboarding?

so if im taking a fall, what type of position should I be in? or should I just use drunk teekneek and let my body go limp and do flips and cartwheels across the water surface until I lose speed and just sink under the surface?

The best position is a compact low position. That is why they tell you to over absorb the landing when you learn wake2wake "also so you don't bounce on landing and catch an edge" . The only other thing I have heard is pin your chin to your chest. The absorb on landings is about the best thing there is.

qwerty123, Not much you can really do with an edge catch. It's over before you can really react. Just do your best to close your eyes, hahaha.

Might be able to tuck a bit on some other falls though and that'll help you from smacking the water as much. You kind of just pick things up naturally the more your ride.

Haha to each their own i guess.

As for learning to fall, like others have said it happens so fast just ABSOLUTELY let go of the rope early if you feel you are going to fall. Even if premature you can always get pulled up again, but a faceplant without letting go of the rope, not something you want to experience.

On our boat we call this being a pu$$y. Hold on to it until you are for sure going to go down, 90% of the time you think you are going to fall you will actually ride through it.

True but he hasnt even faceplanted yet so id rather let go early and learn that i could have held on to it rather then try to hold on and get an enema

You are asking questions about falling on a wakeboard and I get the impression you've never been on one. Just go freaking ride and quit worrying about what it's like to fall. If you're biggest concern is what it's like to catch an edge then you're probably in the wrong sport and won't progress because falling is top of mind.

don't have a cow mate, this is a forum and it's for wakeboarding discussion. the guy's made an effort to write a post looking for things to look out for instead of just recklessly go out and hurt himself, which i think not enough people do with things in general. Also, it makes good discussion for ALL of us.

They all try to scare you. It really depens, Ive gotten faceplants that were not painfull at all, but also got chrashes that were no faceplant that hurted like stuff...

Backplants (landing a faceplant but with your back facing the moving direction) are way worse in my opinion. You get them with blind tricks, it hurts like ****

You should watch the movie "Tommy Boy" where Farley gets hit in the face with the board. It's like that, but then you snap out of it and say WOW that was not fun but I'm still doing better than most because I'm out on the water doing what I love!
