heres backstory.
Me and my dad descided to get a boat as a present for himself (since he never buys anything) and for more time together.
We were boatshopping prolly for 2 months looking for what we wanted. We narrowed it down to get a cabin cruiser with AC and Generator (because its 50000 degrees every day in AZ). After alot of searching we got a great deal on a 1984 270 SeaRay sundancer.
After one month of owning the boat we have not used the AC or Generator once, and the cabin has been reduced to a storage closet. When bringing company on it, they dont want to sit in cabin or anything - they want to be dragged and they want to swim.
Today on the way home my dad out of the blue said, "Maybe we bought the wrong boat," and pretty much left me to say something. I think he might have said it because I'm always staring at the wakeboard boats around. And I said, for lack of time to recover from the suprise, "well there is always time to change boats." And I think he started to consider it. Drawing from his expression I just said to sleep on it for a week before we do anything. Now he might be considering getting a boarding/toy boat and dropping the big one. And now he has also said that our current boat is good for him, just doesnt do anything for me, my friends, and any younger people he brings on the boat. Now I feel guilty (because this was boat was suposed to be as much for him as for me) but theres also a chance at getting a nice boarding boat. what do you guys think?
I dont even know why I posted this it's too long for anyone to read anyway haha. _________________ Always lookin for a pull in AZ. |

If you have any younger siblings the wakeboard boat will help the whole family. _________________ Slob Gear

Who need privacy? Ask a boat full of random guys driving into the wrong (and occupied by me) cove at Don Pedro during memorial weekend. _________________ "Why do you keeping asking me if I am allright?" |

yeah, don't feel guilty. those big ol cabin boats are nice for ocean stuff and overnighting it. no shame in learning that AC is pretty useless on a boat unless you're out there for days at a time. You might even be able to make a clean trade and then be happy. Or you can feel guilty, lie to him and tell him that you really like and feel like crap for an extended period of time.
Another option would be to use the boat for deep sea fishing. That would be nice bonding with your pops. AZ is right on the water, oh wait I forgot about Mexico. |

FYSE my bud and I used to board behind his big ass 26ft cabin cruiser. He put on a custom tower too. Some of the local outlaw riders that we towed were amazed at the size of the wake. They said it was the biggest they had ever hit and were even a little scared of it. Many good times on that boat. Clean out the cabin, stay at the lake overnight watching boardin vids in the cool A/C and hit the glass in the morn.
The cabin is also nice to hang out in while waiting for the latest monsoon to pass. What's left is an empty lake and lots o' butta.
Learn to use the trim tabs on that boat and it will throw a perfectly rampy, clean wake.
Looks like you already learned to get rides on other "real" wakeboarding boats too. So now you can enjoy both ways of boating. _________________ I'm back! after 5 years |

You just need to play with the tabs a little to find the sweet spot at your speed. Of course the more you put the tabs up the more the stern sits in the water and makes a bigger wake.
To make your turns for picking up a downed rider you should do it the same as on a wkaeboard boat or any boat. "Don't Power Turn. A power turn is a high-speed turn that is typically made very quickly in order to retrieve a fallen wakeboarder. The power turn sends rollers out in all directions, which will ruin your water and ruin the water for others around you.
The best way to get to a fallen boarder follows. Once the rider falls, turn the boat to the left and decelerate. After the boat stops, turn back to the right and accelerate slowly towards the rider. The only circumstance in which a power turn is necessary is when the rider is hurt or in danger of getting hit by other watercraft. When you see the rider fall, simultaneously turn the wheel to the left and decelerate. Once you decelerate, turn back around to the right and accelerate slowly towards the rider. What you will notice is that there will be no rollers to cross back over. Try it. You will be very surprised. "
