Dang, the Illusion X tower on my '08 Malibu has cracked where the factory installed tower speakers were drilled into it. The local dealership said it's not safe to use, but they haven't been much help in giving me options. I know Metcraft is out of business, so I'm pretty much screwed with the racks, speakers and bimini top. I understand this has been a frequent problem with these towers. Any of you out there with a suggestion or experience dealing with Malibu on these?

take it to a good metal shop and have it drilled and welded up. my buddy had to do it on his tige tower a couple times. should cost about 100-150

I have seen boats get the tower replaced underwarranty from that year. You can still get that tower. Are you out of warranty?

if you're out of warranty, it's not too hard of a fix if there're metal working shops around. a clean out around the crack, welding on a reinforment sleeve and re-drilling it will sort it. costs under $200 most places
