Might be a stupid question but are there many technique similarities between wakeboarding & snowboarding? It seems like the catching an edge issue might have it's similarities. Do you torsion (twist) the board like you do a snowboard at all?

My two boys & I have been snowboarding together for years and we're just now learning to wakeboard. My 12 year old just got up for the first time a couple weeks ago which prompted us to buy our new (to us) boat. I think his snowboarding skills are helpful though he did take some spills on the first 10 or so tries.

It's similar to a certain point but the amount of pressure required to carve is different... I always have to readjust myself when the season switches. Edging / carving is easier on the water. If you wanna break your board loose, that feels a little awkward at first.

But overall I would agree having snowboarding skills does help a little bit.

^^^^ some of the board feel is similar and it will help you. Rope position, line tension and body position is completely different IMO. Check out some riding position video's and that should help you get comfortable so you can progress more quickly.

Here are a few I would look at.

Excuse the 4 min intro but good info follows.
