| Hello all, I'm a noobie and not much of a boat mechanic, I was out today and after about 2 hrs on the water my bilge pump kicked on and emptied some water. I have been looking around on here to see where to start looking. Some say the drive shaft packing? Does any one have any advice on where I should start. On the 2005 24v the drive line is a pita to get to I think, I will have to take the back seats out to get to where I can see the shaft. Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

Boats are not waterproof by any means. IMHO, the bilge running after 2 hours is a non issue. _________________ '08 Mobius LS |

+1 especially if you were getting in the boat wet. you can bring alot more water than you think. 2 hrs is no big deal. at least you know it works. i would be more worried if it didnt work. _________________ trying to find a $5-7K usable saltare if anyone knows of one. |

| I agree that I drip more than expected when wet but I only got in the boat twice, it was just my wife and I. We were just floating along for about 45 mins, then when I went to start it again is when the bilge turned on. |

| yeah that's probably about right, if it just kicked on for a little bit it's nothing to worry about. I'm guessing it kicked on when you put it in gear? Probably just had a little water in the bottom and when you went in gear it pooled in the back and was high enough to hit the float switch on the pump. If it's running constantly then I'd look into it more otherwise it sounds normal. |
