I was so impressed with Boston, Jt. I was ready to move by the end of the trip, though real estate is crazy expensive & traffic is nuts.

Added bonus, the hockey was a totally different level, as I expected. It was be awesome to have that in your backyard vs having to travel to see it regularly.

it's a great city, and it's 100x better than it was 30 years ago. my csb on harvard hockey: harvard hockey won the ncaa title in 89. one of their players ended up an asst coach at one of the prep schools (i want to say new hampton, but it's been ~30yrs...) and coached my good friend as a pg. we went up to watch a game one weekend and our bud was telling us that after the crimson won their title, it was no different from bama or kentucky - those players were kings and half the team never stepped foot in a classroom the rest of that semester. /csb

here's a couple of pics from our college visits this summmer - colorado and texas.

Early season. Two banners and crushing with the boys(12U) and started out okay with the girls(15U), 3 games 9 points (7G/2A).

We're getting ready to head to Indy at the end of the week. Our oldest has been taking Automotive Tech at the local vo-tech his junior and senior year of high school. They have an engine build team that competes tearing down then building up a motor on a stand. They made 3rd place in the semi-finals and are headed to the finals this week.

Unfortunately, they had a tough few runs and didn't do very well in the finals. They ended up in 7th place overall. While they're a bit disappointed they didn't do better, that is still quite an accomplishment to do that well out of the hundreds of teams in the nation.

Almost unbelievable start for the Terrorist with the girls. Has 35 goals in 12 games(a 12U playing 15U). Gets shut down regularly after the 1st, not to mention getting a shadow defender regularly(this happens with the boys as well). Wish we lived in Boston or Minnesota, would be fun to compete with far better competition & girls her age(though the girls are great friends, she’s fine age wise).

Kind of like how Arizona State started their D1 hockey program, large donation to finance the team. 15.6M directly to Utah Men’s Lacrosse. ASU hockey started with a 32M donation.

I’m excited to go catch some games.

After shitcanning the offer to billet in Anaheim with the Lady Ducks. The Terrorist was recruited and signed with a tournament team out of the JWHL(NAHA). Should be fun & interesting. Thoughts and prayers accepted for my AMEX.

Unfortunately , with two trips to Canada(Onterio), one to Vermont, Boston & DC, we’re family tripped out. May try to do Mexico again for SB now that the LM will be done with school in the Fall (have his Masters in IT)....but this is going to be spendy. Should be a Hell of a ride. Booked the Vermont flight already, coming back FC...was like $3-400 more total, for 3, why not.

Our younger son is out with the in-laws for the summer. My FIL made a deal with him to work around their place and earn cash or an AR that they could build together. He obviously went with the latter...just got it done the other day and worked on getting it sighted in. The kid is pretty stoked!

So the Little Man will complete his Masters Program in IT on Thursday. He’s purchased a home close(a little over a year ago) and has a job lined up with the University. He’s also doing some contract work with the New Jersey Devils, which is awesome.

The Terrorist is playing a little hockey. 1st pick is her netting the 1st goal in the advancement game in an adult women’s tournament this weekend, guest playing with a 19U T2 team locally. She ended up tied for most goals for the team and they won the tournament. Not bad for a 13 year old. Next couple, her playing against the current #1 team in Canada, which her team lost to a week ago. She was able to bang in their only goal. The team competed well in the tournament, as they are a bunch of mercenaries, just come in and play, no practice. Tough against a bunch of girls that practice 4+ times a week and have 20+ games under their belt.

Mt son was able to take a final "3rd year" semester at the vo-tech and do the engine build challenge again. They made it to the finals in Indy this year and had a couple tough runs, breaking a tool in one and being down a teammate (due to getting sick) in the final run. They ended up in 5th place this year.

^^^ Crazy, huh. Bunch of you guys e-watched him grow up.

Public, THANK YOU, to Jt., who hooked up the LM & his friends to multiple concerts. Hope, if the NJD thing works into anything, he can return the favor for an NHL game. Assume at some point, I also probably should send you a Utah Lacrosse hat or shirt. PM me an address.

Funny with the “what happened to this place” thread, but there is a handful of Cats here that I’ve kinda grown “older” with.... I’d pay $6 to get Muck into my Sunday skate. Wink

Just an add, LM is doing analytics for N.J., no hockey playing....not sure if someone may read into that. (Just clarifying, can’t assume, nobody knows hockey)

mine is now 19 and finally made good use of her gap year (as opposed to going to community college and working at whole foods, which she'd been doing). 3 month semester at sea, sailing from usvi, through the panama canal, to the galapagos islands, and then 21 days across the pacific to tahiti. she's fairly experienced on a sailboat, as she's done 4 summer camps w/ this outfit over the years, and she's a certified master scuba diver already (also through those camps). i would absolutely LOVE for her to go into a career on the water, and she's shown some interest in it, so hopefully this trip gave her the inspiration to go forward.

this is in the galapagos, just after offering up their locks in tribute to neptune as they crossed the equator. middle, then left

some other good pics of the trip

will get to see her for the first time in almost 2 years next month in norcal for the final vans warped tour show. if any of y'all are in that area and want to go, hit me up and i'll get you tix.

They sure do grow up fast huh? Our oldest turns 20 in November...he graduated from HS and the Technical Institute. He came out of his Automotive Technician program with two years on the team for the Engine Build Challenge, making it to the finals both years. He is also a Student Master Certified ASE Tech. He got a great job with a dealership and is working on his adult ASE certifications. Our youngest will be a senior this year and is in his second year of the Welding program at the same tech school.
