Big kid! We're wondering if our oldest is going to get somewhere in that realm. He seems to be growing some right now and is almost as tall as my wife (5'-7") and around 160# (although that has dropped in the last few days - football practice has begun).

Wow, I remember you showing pics of him knee high. Dude, I'm beginning to think we might be getting old.

Sadly, that's true, Jason. On the bright side, we have more disposable income. Smile

It seems like yesterday that I was pushing him around the floor in a clothes basket.

Are you not supposed to touch the cup? Sorry, not a hockey guy. I have a polaroid of myself holding it above my head. Should I burn the evidence?

Generally, hockey players don't touch the Cup. Some of that is relative to talent level. I'd drink out of the Cup & have friends that have... But I'm an old guy, as are they. You'd never see a high level Jr. Player, College kid or NHLer touch the cup, without first winning it.

Not sure how that started or the exact thoughts behind it. I think it's just bad JuJu....

So I should be safe, since Im not a hockey player. I also have one of me holding the Stanley cup and the Turner cup simultaniously. I worked for a guy who was part owner of the Dallas Stars and The Houston Aeros in '99 when they both won cups. He had them in his office one day sitting on a table, so I fondled them a bit, haha!

with the world cup, you're not ALLOWED to touch it unless you've won it or you're a head of state whose country won it or is hosting... or if you're rihanna apparently.

Feeling super Proud Pappa today, as my daughter was named a captain(A) on her U10 Squirt travel team. It would not be so much a talent or leadership level that I questioned if she’d get the nod, I assumed there was a solid possibility. I very much thought she would fill the post well, she’s a natural leader and is one of their best players, usually the kid coaches have demonstrate drills/power skating. But being an '05, first year U10 (though she played for this team last year) & the only girl on the team, I wondered of the boys would vote her in(silent vote).

It was announced Monday and she was on cloud 9, which maybe is the best part, her excitement and pride. We had a nice celebratory dinner. Now time to wear it right.

Equal time, the Little Man leaves for Ohio on Thursday, turns around and hits the LA circuit (USC & LMU) next week.... They're 4-0, but he hasn't touched ice.... Doesn't make it any less fun, he's having the time of his life & I have an authentic Utah jersey with his name & #...and that as phuckin' cool as it gets. I ask him after a game if it was a bit surreal to see someone(not withstanding "dad") walking around the arena with a jersey with his name/number.... Other people are probably "who the phuck is xxxxx"

ADD: Warm up shot from Ohio(he's picked up a few shifts now)

Utah vs BYU(BIG RIVALRY HERE), crushed them... Little more ice time....

Edit...

First collegiate goal, ACHA PAC8 goal against UW in Seattle...

Tough weekend, ugh. Finish it with the Little One getting run into the boards. Called a PS, but unfortunately she was dinged & couldn't take it. Funny, the kid that ran her, his dad wanted him thrown...

I was on the bench, the refs were discussing if they could 86 him related to his dad? Didn't run the kid, think the coaches just benched him(maybe 2-3m)

Sequence of run into boards -

She doesn't whine.... Twisted Evil

Meh...bit of a chippy play. Funny, the dad of the kid checking her was PISSED. wanted him ejected from the game. We laughed, decided if that was legal? That said, bet the pup was 12....& the LO is 10. She'll skate, he can check to stop her....not the first kid to get frustrated with a girl rolling them.

All that said...!!! Let's roll this weekend with the ACHA DII National Championships!!! LM will be a healthy scratch, but go Utes!!! Best 16 ACHA DII teams to roll it out, looking forward to see what happens. (Probable 1W-2L and out).

EDIT : 1-1, beat #2 Missouri State 4-2, lost to #1 Florida Gulf Coast 3-4...

*rankings are for the pool. Utes #3, Northeastern #4.

My daughter kicks ash! Summer tournament season. Crushed it last weekend for her old team U12's(rostering with them, but really just guest playing), won a tourney(mid). Crushed it this weekend with her current team, won a tournament(top tier). Championship game today, 0-0 after regulation and OT, stopped 2 of 4 PK's(stopped, not missed) to win it.

Was ask to guest play for 2 other clubs later this Summer, including a trip to Colorado. Fun, but declined.
