haha... she's come close to strangling me a couple times! That's why, in the pic, you can see me holding her other hand - when she gets it involved she basically ends up choking me out.

Swass, it can be crazy at times but they wear pretty much all the protective gear possible. Those bullriding vests are the best thing ever for MX & as long as I am paying for their bikes they will wear them. Zach (older boy) got a concussion last year and it scared us and him pretty bad. He took a couple months off the bike and it really made him think before he does something"risky". He has gotten his speed back in the last month or so, though. Caiden(younger boy) is just crazy.
JT, Zach (blue bike) is 11 & Caiden(yellow bike) is 7. They have an older sister that is a competitive horse jumper that is 13. Adrenaline runs in the family........

I ride the same bike, but for some reason, mine doesn't do that.
My oldest rides pretty conservatively, but my youngest is fearless. He scares the hell outta me.
That's a sweet playground you have there!

Its funny how different I feel about some things after my son was born. My parents didnt buy us a car, pay for insurance or pay for college so I always told my wife that we would do the same for our kids. I thought it would help them learn how to be responsible with money and if I could do it so could he! Well, my son is only 1 year old and I have already changed my mind, ive already starting putting money away for the car and college!

Yep.... Truth be told, I was as shocked as he was. We(mom) had discussed him taking Michelle's old Passat Wagon or mom's '10 Subie Outback(which what I had thought was happening) and she said she would go get "something cool" for her(I was recommending an S5). Then at his birthday party, he was opening up mom and Mark's gift and it was keys and they said, "Better go look out front." He walks out to a new Scion tC. They had ordered it(guess he had told her his dream car was a blue 2 door with a nice stereo...nothing specific, just a 2 door car that was blue and had a nice stereo ) and had it in storage for the previous 1.5 months. Nobody knew, nobody. It was pretty cool, he is a fortunate kid.
That said, we are fortunate parents. He is a great kid, honor student, doesn't get in trouble, just plays hockey, hangs out with his friends, girls and school.... He just got his first job as well(works at the hockey rink, surprise... ).
He has been informed by his mother that she pays for his car and insurance & thus is entitled to half of every paycheck from his job. It is a sweet deal on his end.

daaaaaaang. how long until he has it wrapped around a pole? my "little" bro gets his license august 6, and no word yet on what he will be driving. after riding with him, though, one thing is for sure. i wouldn't be getting him anything that will be expensive to replace. yikes.

I always worry the kids won't respect what they're given in that case since they didn't have to work for any of it or understand how hard it is to acquire something like that at their age. I think a good route if you want to spoil your kids is to do the same thing your parents did and have them pay for their own car/school and once they're done (assuming they pass) give them the money back they spent.

This is something we fight with constantly. We try to provie our kids with more than we had and now it's started to bite us in the a$$ because they act like they expect everything.

I like Ramsey's plan and I think that's what we will do with our kiddo when it comes to a car. We will match dollar for dollar up to $10k anything that he saves towards a car. I'll pay insurance and will help with gas, if grades and school are good. Luckily, we have 15 years to get there.

me neither! My husbands friend does that and one of these days he's going to wipe out and snap his neck. Scary.
SCottman, that's awesome that you've got your son wakeboarding at such a young age!!

Swass, that's awesome! I can't wait until mine can do that. Right now, she (3yo) just wants to ride on my shoulders when I am using the push mower, and between the steering wheel and seat when I am using the rider. I'm not too sure about either of these activities, but she has a blast.

Okie Boarder, he's nine.
He's fascinated by the blade clutch and the self-propelled feature. He loves starting the mower, too. He's been doing that for me for years.
If we had a riding mower, I don't think I'd ever have to mow again. lol

Nice! We have a riding mower and I'll tell ya, much like when they got their first ax for splitting wood, the charm does wear off after awhile.........
