Hi All,

My bilge has stopped working and after 9 years of owning the boat it's time for a replacement. I've located the bilge and am attempting to remove it but the access is through a small access panel in the storage at the front of the boat.

I've detached the bilge pump from it's casing (which is attached to the boat) but there is a wire attached and I'm not sure how to remove that. Is the wire usually detachable, or does a new bilge come wired?

Also, can anyone recommend a replacement bilge? I've got a 20 ft MB Sports LS200.

Thanks!

Steve

Chances are it is hard wired in. Probably somewhere back towards the source of the wiring it either has a quick connect or crimp. You might just cut the wires and crimp on the new ones. I would label the wiring first so if the new pump wiring isn't the same, you get it hooked up right. It looks like you're wired up so that it work automatically on its own (always has power and when float switch engages it comes on), plus power can be switched on and off to manually "force" it to run. The base just needs to be unscrewed from the floor. The new bilge pump will have 1-2' of new wire built into the housing like yours does.
