Okay, so last thursday I purchased my first iMac. Great computer, love the interface it's also very fast. Don't know much about it, but I'm learning.

I have 1 problem thats starting to piss me off highly. I find that it freezes ALOT, I'm not running multiple programs either. Any fixes or idea's?

Also I'm new so any app's you would recommend would be great also!

Shouldn't be freezing(no new computer should be, really, not just a Mac). If it persists you should talk to apple about it, could be a bad part inside.

What program are you running when it freezes? Video editing programs will freeze most computers very often! Although the new Final Cut Pro X or whatever it is called is awesome for the mac.

weatherford, did you install any other video codec software since (like Perian)?

I've never had video problems on the Macs, but I do have Perian installed on all of them. Although it looks like Perian is not going to have support any longer, so it may not work when Mtn Lion arrives...

Not sure if this is your problem or not but I get this issue on my mac mini server when I have downloaded and installed updates without rebooting. I hate to reboot because I have so many things that run off my little server. After the reboot I never have an issue until the next update. Might be something to think about.
