I'm about to get a skate and was wondering if you guys use a tether. It seems like otherwise you might be swimming after the board a lot every time you fall.........

Idk hat a tether is so I guess I dont use it but when you crash the skate usually doesnn't go to far. Dont worry about the swimmin it will make you stronger and help you land your tricks faster cuz you dont like the swim when you crash. Its kind of like a punishment for crashing lol.

A tether like on a surfboard........velcro thingy that goes around your ankle with about a 5 ft. cord attached to it. It's a necessity on a surfboard........you'd lose the board in the ocean when you fell off. Not much chance of losin' a skate on the lake tho' I guess........unless it flew off in the weeds.

na dont use a tether, im not even sure where you would attach it to, but the swimin thing really isnt that bad and if it goes out to far just have the boat pick it up on the way to pick u up.

Plus, most of us ride with vests, so we float. I always wondered why surfers never wore vests, but theres pry a good reason.

I have attached a surf leash to my wakeskate, it's a pointless exercise to swim after it. It just makes you tired & then you can't skate as long.

Surfers don't wear lifevests in the ocean 'cuz to get under the waves you need to duckdive. Hard to do when you're wearing a vest. Also, if you wipeout on a big wave you wanna go under it as much as possible 'cuz if you're on the surface of the water you'll get hammered way worse.

You can't do kick flips or pop shuvits with a leash can you?

Jester, I've gone over the falls plenty of times to know that I'd rather be on the bottom.

It is retarded to use a leash unless your board sinks or you cant swim. You couldnt do halve as many tricks, and its fun as hell to go big and flip even when you cant land it.

You can popshuvit just fine with the leash, but the kickflip doesn't work. That's okay for me since I barely ever get to wakeskate so I'm nowhere near kickflipping that thing.

Nor Cal, I went over the falls this weekend for the 1st time in a LONG time. Kinda funny & kinda embarrassing at the same time.
