Zombie John Snow!!

Good episode. Don't really care about the Iron Island story line. Didn't care for it in the book either.

i know it's a fantasy show and we've got to suspend belief, but getting gut stabbed multiple times and then jumping into a nasty canal means death. not running all over the city like jackie chan, tumbling down 40 stairs, randomly finding your needle under a carpet, killing your nemesis and sneaking back into the hall of faces. c'mon now!

Since she went and got needle out from under the rocks where she hid it and put it there on purpose I'd say she didn't randomly find it. Especially since she left a blood trail on purpose leading the girl all the way to a spot she knew would be completely dark where she would have the advantage from training while she was blind.

i don't recall them showing us that room before the end of the chase, but now that you mention the intentional blood trail i do think that's valid. doesn't change the fact that she should be dead/dying after a half dozen gut stabs and a swim in the canal. whatever...i'm ready for arya to f* shlt up back in winterland! Twisted Evil

I think it was the very end of an episode where she blew the candle out, and thats how the episode ended.

But yea I agree that she shouldn't be able to be doing all of that stuff, but we aren't really sure how much time has passed for her to heal.

right, but did they ever show us that room prior? they give us clues - like her placing both bloody hands on the wall, to show that she was intentionally leading the waif on, yes? did they ever show arya in that room earlier in the episode, or are we just supposed to figure that out on our own?

they did. she went to that room right after she got needle. I assumed it was at the temple, but it was not.

haha - knew that line was coming the instant the slavers mentioned negotiating terms for surrender. was a little surprised dany went so easy on tyrion.

my complaint for the episode is 2 part, and i saw it coming in the previews last week, but was hoping ramsay and jon would go 1-on-1 and i'd be wrong. in my wildest dream arya would show up and ninja her way into winterfell to kill ramsay before the battle happened.

1) sansa was 100% right - an open field, army vs army battle can only fail for a smaller army w/o horses. it was stupid as all get out to even try it. you know the land & the castle & have a couple of assets that could help you fight more guerrilla style to even your odds a bit. there's a part b to this, i'll come back to in a sec...

2) the open field battle is not only terrible for the idea of waging it in the first place, but both armies are now decimated - you even heard ramsay and his officer mention this as they retreated to winterfell. regardless of who wins that battle, they lose so much to death, and now have to use so many resources on the wounded that they can't do anything else for months on end.

1b) the knights of the vale showing up last second is just too damn cliche for this show. one of the most tired parts of film/tv is to show the protagonist beaten down to the last inch of life/hope when salvation arrives out of nowhere.

They sorta set up the vale showing up a few episodes back when Balish showed up at the Knights watch. He was "in the area." Guess he was a short ride away for Sansa. It was Cliché though. Also, Giant dying sucked.

that's the thing though...if the knights of the vale are close enough to show up 10 min after the fighting starts, they are close enough so that any army knows they are there. hell, i'd have rather seen them show up out of nowhere on ramsay's flank just after he's sent his cavalry (think braveheart - make 'em think you're leavin) so we didn't have to go through the whole "everyone's about to die, how do they live now" scenes.

speaking of that whole scene...how interminably long were some of those shots?? it took forever for ramsay's cavalry to get to jon. it took jon forever to get up off the ground. ramsay's pikers had jon's army surrounded forever before the kov showed up.

another long shot annoyance...all of those archers were using shorter bows which are used for hunting/short range castle defense, not open field supporting fire from long range.

i'm not one to usually pick the show's nits so badly, but as soon as i saw the preview last week i knew it was going to make me grumpy. Laughing

it was strangely drawn out and cliché, which this show hasn't had too much off. Granted, we are totally off book now, so I guess writers go for what they know.
I am glad they didn't chicken out on how to kill Ramsay. Feeding him to his dogs was well done.

I did like the Iron born chick hitting on Danny. and its about damn time the dragons destroy something.

I believe that I will kill and cook up your boys, serve them to you in a nice meal, then put an end to you. Arya continue her vengeance person by person.

Very good episode last night. Too bad we have to wait to continue.....

i think arya eventually does littlefinger in as well. he can smell too many other dangers coming, but he doesn't have any idea if she's even alive today, much less that she's an assassin.

Arya is only going after people on her list. I don't think Littlefinger was ever on that list. Cersei is on that list though. I don't see her pulling it off.

Cersei is the type of ruler to burn down / blow up the whole damn city to win. Cost her her son, but she didn't seem that bothered by it.

Next season - 43 weeks or so away...

walder frey wasn't on her list when she first made it either, and the dog worked his way off of it, and she's apparently dropped a couple others. the list is fluid. Laughing

cersei knew tommen would die soon enough - the witch told her all her kids would die in the flashback earlier this season.

i can find a list of dead characters, but nothing on who has the most kills....

I would think Cersei now has the most kills. Or are you talking about by their actual hands?
