ohsix, i am still there, and now that we're integrating with salesforce, the opportunities are getting bigger. i'm in charge of the service company vertical now, so as long as the whales don't get extinct, i'll be good.
damn pet575! i was stoked to see $2.95 around here! |

Still 3.45 here. WTF.
I was talking to a gas retailer(stations/cstores) and I guess the margin in the retail gas world is unreal right now. Retail isn't keeping up(down) with barrel. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

$2.64 here in NW Houston. Anyone wanna bet it doesn't hit $3.00 before Jan '15?
I heard a certain super-major was cutting back 15% or so across the board in most of their business units due to profitability concerns this summer, esp. onshore. I'm sure this slide won't help. Their deepwater exploration group is where my wife contracts a lot of work but they do not appear as susceptible as onshore development/exploitation. _________________

and a 30 minute wait.
The most gas tanks are 12 gallons, I don't get why people will sit and wait in line for 20-30 minutes for $2.50. _________________

Never had to wait for more than a few minutes at most, if even a wait, at Costco? That said, I can't get diesel at Costco, so only fill up the wife/son/boat there.... |

I'll have to take a picture next time I roll by the Santa Clara Costco, the lanes are all 10-15 deep sometimes, I don't get it. _________________

That's nuts and I agree, I'm not waiting in line for 20 minutes to save $5... |

I never pay attention to gas prices. I pull in where it's convenient and fill up. I figure the biggest differences across a city are probably $.20/gallon at most. Even at 30 gallons that's only $6. It's not that I think I'm super important or anything, but I wouldn't go an extra stop light to save $6 on a $90 purchase as I feel like my time and effort is worth more.
Occasionally when traveling people will ask what gas costs where I live. I have no idea. Gas is kind of like health care to me. When you need it, you just pay what it costs. |

i always notice the price for regular driving around town, but i couldn't tell you what i pay for the 93 that i put in my wrx. seems like our signs around here show regular and diesel prices but not premium. when i bought my car, i planned for $4/gallon. i haven't paid that in quite a while now. |

I drove less than a mile the other day to save about $7. But I was already going to In-N-Out next to that gas station. I assumed that the station I was originally headed to was cheaper. Once I saw the sign, I diverted. Paid for my #1 combo. _________________

$2.82 here in Ohio
GasBuddy app for the win! I drive 30 miles each way to work on I75 that cuts through 5 towns... I have the app programmed so I can quickly look through the gas stations right off the highway and pull into the cheapest. |

how do you do that boardordie? i use the app occasionally, but only thing i do is flip between "closest" and "cheapest". i'd love to know how to program it to search along a route, especially when i'm going in between aus-hou. especially since my taco is getting 3-4 less mpg than my 4runner |

our prices here in town are always the highest around. wed afternoon it was 3.07 when i left town. i saw 2.85 on the way down to bloomington. on the way back, everywhere had jumped. we paid 3.09 at a place that is always the cheapest. when we got home it was back up to 3.19. |

jt09, You can do what you're talking about to some extent on the gasbuddy website but not the app. The website lets you put in all the variables for your trip (multiple destination) and vehicle (fuel tank size, mpg, etc...) and starts you with a full tank and calculates where you'll need to fill up and finds the cheapest price. Unfortunately if your gas tank is larger then what your trip needs it just states you won't need to fill up.
I just have the list of the cities I'm going through on the app and flip to each city and see who's cheapest. Your idea would be an awesome addition to the app. |

$1.99 in OKC
Not real good for my line of work. Wife got laid off and we just blew our savings on a waterfront home in our marina. Oh well, it's only money -- till you run out! _________________

$2.39 by my house. Don't mind filling up the wife's car right now.
As far as work, I don't think I will be affected by the price drop work wise - at least not for a while. Most projects I'm on are in the $8 - $30 billion range and take years to complete. _________________ Work SUX! |

If it goes down alot further the "money" behind the 8-30 billion dollar projects are going to get itchy.
"Hey operating company we want your share to be another billion"
"um we don't have a spare billion laying around"
"Were out"
think Fountainbleu in Vegas. There is several billion dollars sitting there rotting. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

http://florida.newszap.com/clewiston/136525-113/clewiston-gas-station-sells-29-cent-gasoline-after-mistake
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, a gas station clerk in Clewiston incorrectly input the price of gasoline at the store’s main control, effectively sending the price of gas back to 1950s levels, when the cost of gas averaged just .29 cents a gallon.
What ensued was a mad rush by residents who learned, through friends and then later on social media, about the pricing snafu, and hurried to fill up the tanks of their own vehicles before the mistake could be corrected.
On Facebook, people bragged about filling their tanks – others saddened for having missed out on the pricing oddity. One man boasted about going back at least seven times with different vehicles.
For store employees, the behavior of a group of customers that took advantage of the pricing mistake was a sobering disappointment. With the station selling gas for .29 cents per gallon, or about 10 percent of the actual cost of $2.89 per gallon, no customer walked in the store to rectify the situation.
“Nobody, nobody [notified us],” lamented Saidul Hoque, a store employee. “Not a single person.” |
