Basically, a group of 12-15 girls starting reporting uncontrollable ticks and twitches. They all go to the same high school, but a cursory investigation revealed no contamination in the air or water in the school.
They also can't find any physical evidence of a neurological problem.
Faking has been brought up, but I'm not sure I would go to that explanation so fast. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide
But it is interesting to note that there was a large chemical spill there in 1970. Train derailment. There is no evidence to support any connection right now though. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide
They say they have ruled out all environmental factors
That right there should tell you that they are more interested in trying to calm people down. You can never eliminate all environmental factors. What they mean is that they have not found evidence of any environmental factors. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide
GnarShredd, I remember her. I always thought it was sad what had mysteriously happened to her. Whether it is in her head or she is just faking, I don't think it was the flu shot that did it to her. After watching that inside edition clip, I'd say it is a hoax or she is so much of a compulsive liar that she can't determine truth and fiction.
cameraboy, I saw that on the news a little while ago. I think there has to be some sort environmental factor that caused it. Also, why did it just effect females? That right there should be a lead. _________________

Same gynecologist?
Something that was in the girl's bathroom, like a batch of tampons from the dispenser?
Consecutive in the lunch line, and some trays were contaminated with something?
They all made fun of Tituba?
Kissed the same boy?
Girl's room at a local hang out?
Smoked from the same bong, the same bag of weed? _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide
Honestly, who know's what's going on. But I really wouldn't be surprised if it was something made-up whether they're meaning to or not. A small case of mass-hysteria.
Only thing I know is that high school girls can be crazy and in this case, crazy is contagious.
I think GnarShredd could be right, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.
I also like to watch things like this bring out all the new, modern psychological fears coming out... I think stuff like that is a cool snapshot of our society.
You'll see groups claiming that it's due to:
Iphones
Gardasil vaccinations
Jesus
Homosexuality
Xbox
chemical spills
cell towers
and anything that is new or distrusted in the collective psyche. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide
cameraboy, Definitely. Hundreds of years ago it was 'witches' or 'demons', now it's chemicals and new technology. People are afraid of and instantly blame what they don't understand.
Reminds me of this lady. Probably my favorite youtube video of all-time.

First reaction though has to be that they are faking, intentionally or not. It reminds me of a story in Ontario where children kept telling their parents they were having headaches, memory loss, and trouble concentrating, which went away when they weren't at school (what a surprise). The parents blamed on the presence of a wi-fi network in the school.
FIRST reaction should be to ensure that the environment they share with other people isn't contaminated with a harmful agent. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide

Good point, I just meant that my first reaction after reading the story is that given the age of those affected, and with the lack of any identified causative agent, it's likely psychological in nature.
Maybe a poltergeist. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide
