I hope we can all agree that this is absurd. What's even more absurd is that it is a 37 page document.

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2012/02/08/la-county-oks-1000-fine-for-throwing-football-frisbee-on-beaches/#.TzNOe_oaTKg.twitter

Though the deep wallets in the water polo lobby managed to get an exemption. Cannot say I was involved in that but it made me laugh.

I guess the problem is when the wind kicks up, morons don't realize their frisbee isn't going to fly straight. But at the same time this is retarded. Can't they just have designated zones for this... or rules, to stay x feet away from other people when playing "catch"

This is right along those lines of whats wrong with America. The USA keeps passing laws simply to pass laws. We are turning into a bureocratic nightmare...

Case in point...

And it flow from both ends of the aisle. [/url]

nmballa, California as a State has relaxed laws on homebrewing and winemaking. Explicitly making beer tastings legal and opening things up for beer tasting rooms just like wine tasting. Can't believe Wisconsin would attack homebrew, don't they know stability in that state requires a drunk population? Hell if people sobered up long enough they would realize that it's cold there and summer isn't 9 months long.

LA has been on a roll though: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/19/ron-jeremy-condoms-in-porn_n_1216605.html

But even Reeps are in on it here: http://www.fromthecapitol.com/sacramento-river-alcohol-ban-for-holidays-2699

Schwarzenegger signed a couple of these alcohol bans, most authored by Republicans.

I feel like the Fun PAC needs to get up and running to defend fun that is being assaulted by these curmudgeony @ssholes throughout the country.

Oregon enacted a homebrew sharing ban similar to that one, a few years ago.

They probably get a lot of contributions from NAMBLA

That's horseshit. No one gets seriously injured from frisbees hitting them in the head.

Yup.

Make a legislator a part time job, cut the salary to $X (Something reasonable like median salary level or similar) a year with no life long benefits, limit laws or something of that nature and it could go a long way to curb some of these issues, IMO.

Okie Boarder, I've made my term limit and part time arguments before. A less educated and non-professional legislature passes more laws that are poorly crafted and transfers power from the legislative body to the executive, aka the bureaucracy.

They do when you re-enact Krull.

This country is going to hell in a handbasket. Whatever happened to personal freedoms? I can fix our government. Don't put any d's or r's next to candidates names. Eliminate the 2 party system and make people educate themselves about the candidates and the issues. It would eliminate so much of the bs as long as campaign spending was limited.

Maybe this is because some douchebags were throwing a ball or frisbee all up on some people trying to have a relaxing time on the beach. A lifeguard asked them to stop, and they were like "there's no law against throwing a frisbee on the beach."

Well, now there is, douchebags.

or maybe people just wanted to play legislator, IDK.

Maybe it was because some people who spend money at the beach told some legislators that they are not going to the beach anymore because of all the kids throwing stuff?

either way, it seems stupid to me. What they should do is make it LEGAL to throw stuff on the beach, but also legal to kick the siht out of anyone who hits your or your kid with something that they are throwing on the beach.

Beaches are free out here. Legislating for inconsiderate people's actions is my bet. Just sad that it is an option. Sign of the general lack of respect these days. Guessing a Lifeguard called the Rangers on numerous occasions and the Rangers brought this forward as part of the regulation is other related issues.

The beaches are free, but are there concessions and shops at the beach?

Curious... do you have some beaches that are private or that the public can use but they have to pay to use?

You have to pay for parking in some spots but can avoid that if you're willing to walk a few blocks for the beaches near urban areas. The more remote beaches it serves you to pay the parking fee. Shops are generally on the other side of PCH. Some places have concessions but those are leases to the vendor. Not exactly sure what that has to do with it though.

But this is specific to LA County run beaches which are all near urban areas. The State run beaches in LA County do not have this ordinance, if you understand the difference.
