|
|
Some of you may have noticed my angst about unelected and unaccountable agencies, boards, quasi-legislative bodies and individuals that account for the Bureaucracy. I truly believe the lack of accountability has lead us down a rabbit hole that is more detrimental than anything Congress or the Presidency does. While a part of the Executive the Bureaucracy has evolved into an almost independent branch that is difficult to control.

Ok the parrots I get. Those little bastards can chomp. But flaming water skis? Isn't that like, an oxymoron or something? _________________

| Quote: | | Complexity costs money. Sarbanes-Oxley, a law aimed at preventing Enron-style frauds, has made it so difficult to list shares on an American stockmarket that firms increasingly look elsewhere or stay private. America’s share of initial public offerings fell from 67% in 2002 (when Sarbox passed) to 16% last year, despite some benign tweaks to the law. |
The author should not comment about things he has no clue about.
1) Sarbox did not make it any more difficult to list companies. Between 02 and 03, we got tens of companies listed, and that was just one tiny IB firm. I was directly involved in the process - I was typically the one dealing with the SEC and NASD regulators.
2) IPOs fell because there was not demand for them thanks to the .Com bust. If demand was there, they would have been filed, Sarbox or not. _________________

chavez, probably relating to water ski shows/events. If they can regulate it they will. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

Nor*Cal, haha. Still sounds funny.
And I should clarify: Sarbox did make it more onerous to file for public listing, but it did not slow the process enough to blame for the slowdown in IPO filings. The reality is we included whatever disclosure was necessary, switched to so-called "plain engrish", and filed. Not a problem. _________________

Just finished it. Other than the points I made above, I agree with the author on this subject. _________________

SarbOx also put personal liability on the people signing statements like annuals and 10ks. From my experience one the most often commented reasons for not going public. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian?

I work for a corporation. We are just as redundantly bogged down in over regulation from within at every level as the government. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide |

I think over-regulation is a non-partisan issue. Things are really out of hand. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

I just heard about this.
And on the flip side, a kid in my girl's class, 10 years old, starting telling her that he's going to slash her face open with a razor. And he's starting making other threats, and they are all shockingly graphic for a 10 year old.
She reported it, and it turns out that he was expelled from his last school for attacking a teacher with a pocket knife.
So, some douchebag is taking away some little girl's lunch and overstepping the bounds of common sense, this kid gets to keep going to school and make threats after attacking someone with a knife... _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide |
