The boy is playing for a rag tag U16 team put together to fill a sacrificial lamb spot in the Great Western Showcase tourney being held here this weekend.
They just took the HS Select team he plays on, split it U16/U18 formed 2 teams and then brought in kids to fill the extra slots. I am positive we could have taken U16 kids from our HS team and been FAR MORE competitive. Hell, we'd probably have been middle of the pack.
It is good experience and ice time, but they are getting phucking throttled every game.... The LM is an even 50/50 frustrated/demoralized. He had a firm talking to by the ref last game after being taken to the PB. "One more &^%#$% thing like that behind the play and you'll be suspended." I watched what he did and didn't think much of it(bop to the back of the head in front of the net. They were going at it pretty good, he was taking butt of the tick to the ribs repeatedly)  That said, he has decided if they are not going to win, at least he'll let them remember he was there... Assume the ref was just trying to keep control.
