I have a new(used) boat with 2 sets of wet sounds 485's. They are powered by a hiphonics 800 watt amp. I turned the volume up to level 24 and they sounded amazing. I am just wondering how much further I can crank it up. They sound crystal clear at 24, but I don't want to push it and ruin my speakers. How do I know when I should stop increasing the volume?

You want to tune your system to the "unity" setting on the amp with the head unit around 85%. Take a look at our site on the WS-420 page, there is an amp tuning guide. If you dont have a WS-420, you can skip down and follow the same steps on setting the system up. You want to set the high pass around 80 HZ to start. And set the gain to the level you start to hear distortion. Then back the gain down a bit so you can reach the max level you want on the head unit. For instance is the radio goes to 30, 24 is fine. If the radio goes to 40, 30 or 35 might be where you want it. Just make sure you know that max volume level is.

The key is what you said about crystal clear. Once you start to hear them distort, that is when you are sending a clipped signal to the speakers.
