A friend is in the market for a new boat. He is looking at a Wakesetter or a Air Natique. The boat's are about the same in price. Please give us your opinion. And please explain why? Thanks for responding

Can you give us some more information, like how the boat will be used, and what his past experiences are. Either one is a great boat and he's not making a mistake either way, but they are quite different and therefore perform better under different circumstances.

It's a 03 216 Air Nautique VS a 03 Wakesetter. Both boat's are direct drive. for the most part both boats would have the same options Same motor, PP, ect. The Waksetter would have a Skylon Swoop and a center balast sack, and wedge. The Air would have FCT tower and the 400lb hard balast tanks.

When we bought our Wakesetter, we looked at all dealers in our area the Malibu dealer were more to work with us.
Both are good, for us it came down to service.

Check your dealers and ask customers what they think. If both are equal I'd go with the Nautique because of better overall quality.

I don't want to start a boat war, but I think quality is equal.

What are the engine options, I doubt they are the same as Nautique runs PCM and Malibu runs Indmar. Just wondering what engines they were.

mcfatty - you'll never be able to convince them that Malibu is equal to Nautique, they have all been brainwashed Wink

The engine is the Monsoon Im not sure of the HP but I think its 320hp on the Wakesetter and the engine on the Air is the PCM excalibur 5.7 330 hp
The engines seem very close

Thats a hard choice both are nice boats, like everyone else has said , make sure you get it from a dealer with good service, if you dont you will regret it when something breaks. Good luck and keep us updated

You should really tell him to try and ride the boats before buying... Personally I MUCH prefer the Nautique wake to the Wakesetter wake. I'm sure I might have liked the Wakesetter better if the weight arrangement had been altered, but in general the Nautique wake is a LOT nicer IMO. To every man his own, though...

Nautique 216...........very nice boat. The seats are awesome and comfortable. 330HP standard. 400LB ballast with enough room to lay a sack on top of that. Awesome dash (if it is a Limited or Team). Go look at the video's on waterskimag.com You already know the right choice mud Very Happy

I personally looked at both these boats (2002 models) before I made my decision...

IMO-- they don't even compare.... but what do I know....lol...

You must ride behind each one to tell for sure. You will be able to experience what I'm talking about first hand.... Make the dealer earn his sale have him weight the stuff out of it just like you would set it up at home... bring some extra sacks people what ever, get it as big as you can and ride behind them both, doing all this with both boats on the same day would be even better, reduce as many variables as you can...

PEACE
