I have never had one, but I've decided to start a tradition of getting a manicure, pedicure, and straight razor shave on my birthday starting this year and after I'm dead of a motorcycle accident at 82.

Did you see my FB post yesterday. The wife and I got pedis, and drank a bottle of prosecco. Had I been able to understand Vietnamese it would have been perfect.

How many of you guys would go to a joint where you could get a haircut, shave, shoot some pool, get a tattoo, drink some scotch, smoke a cigar, and hang out in front of a big screen tv?

Someday I would consider opening and old-timey men's club like that. Where the barbers are real men and cute chicks.

There seems to be a lack of things in our modern culture that are "manly" and I'm thinking maybe it would do men good to be "badass" for a few hours a month or so...

People could have their own straight razors, brushes, and mugs stored there on the wall and stuff like that....

I know there are places like this further south and west, but around here we don't really have anything like that. the closest thing we have is a joint that is really just an upscale and expensive "men's salon."

That's not what I'm going for. I'm going for old timey badass barber shop, a place where men are men. Not where men get to overpay to be treated like women.

cameraboy, we have one of those places in austin. all men's club - women are only allowed in a certain lounge area, and iirc, only at certain times. old boss of mine used to own it and i think someone else i know owns it now.

JT, that's kind of what I'm talking about.

It's the same idea, but I would gear it more toward the working man.

Not so much where business men come to connect, but where guys who also work with their hands feel like they belong.

And guys who work in big offices and make a lot of money can feel like they are badasses too.

I've never had one and don't really care to. My wife sees men at the mani/pedi salon all the time though. If I though I'd like it, I'd try it. My wife can't run very far without getting blisters on her feet, because they take all the hard skin off when she gets a pedicure.

Massages are another thing I don't understand. I did a couples massage with my wife on our anniversary and my wife convinced me to go to another one because I had a knot under my shoulder blade that was bothering me. I don't have ADHD, but I just don't like "relaxing" while other people rub on me.

That said, I am not sure that accurately describes what I have heard of that place??? ie: see "guest rooms"

As far as the original question, I'd do it, but never have. It isn't something I have wanted to do though....not on the "I'd like to be doing that a few times a year" list....

I got a pedicure last summer for the first time, I didn't really like it. The massage kinda hurt, it felt like she was mashing my leg hair into my leg. It wasn't really painful, but didn't feel good. I don't particularly care about having pretty feet, and she took off all of the callouses that I need for walking around barefoot comfortably!

I'm not sure I'd go back even if someone else was paying.

Men need tough feet. Real men have tough feet. Get a foot massage from a Taiwanese hooker if you want your feet rubbed. Laughing

Massages are great, if from a chick, but pedi/manicures are not manly, and no man should get them.

Very much against it. I get them once a month. I HATE feet! But guys shouldn't get pedicures. Massage - fine. Pedicure - nope. Manicure - hell no.
