Subject says it all. Just looking at buying an 04 05 xstar and just wondering if I need to be leary of anything in particular or just overall condition. You guys are the all knowing, so I come to you!

I believe it was around that time that the front flip up bow seats had issues with bowing and poor fitment/breaking. This was warranted as a fault by MC so check for damage. If the plastic seat base doesn't sit flat to the bow moulding then it's a warranty job and needs to be addressed.

I've seen the tower knobs seize in the tower too, which are a b*itch then get out so check they are all loose enough to be used. It may not be a deal breaker for you but it's certainly a bargaining point for you to use.

Some fading of the yellow dash instrumentation is common but unsightly... As with things like the red button on the dash. Can be fixed but again, good bargaining tool Wink


Only other things that would spring to mind for me would be the usual engine/trans inspections as these boats often get LOADED with weight so ensure that everything is cool before putting your money down. A quality survey and mechanical inspection is well worth it. Depending on where in the world you are will depict if I can advise on a god person to speak to for this.
